Is this a list?

I'm going to write out the text message I sent DH. I will be removing names with asterisk.
He asked me what he should get from the shop so I sent this. He's insisting that this isn't a list and I haven't told him what to get from the shop.

*** ^is going to make ramen cos we have all the ingredients
Just need:

Another pack of dried egg noodles
2 chicken breasts ( got bacon in the fridge)
Eggs

Lunch can just be cheese sandwich if you get bread
Need juice

Disclosure, I am autistic if that makes any difference.

It's wordy and lots of unnecessary detail, but it is still a list. Perhaps he literally just wanted bullet pointed items but unless he has some kind of reading difficulty, he should be able to pick out the items from your message.

CoopAndWheels · 28/08/2023 14:27

It’s annoying. It could also be far too much info for someone stressing out in a shop who just needs you to say
Egg noodles
chicken breasts
eggs
bread.

DH does this when I ask if he’s done a shopping list, he lists everything we’ve got-which is not what I asked.

ApolloandDaphne · 28/08/2023 14:39

It would be annoying to sift through the information given to work out exactly what is needed. I would just want the items with no extra information.

It’s not a list, it’s information. Yes all the items needed are there, but no it’s not a list.

InterFactual · 28/08/2023 14:45

It's a list in my eyes

usedtobeasizeten · 28/08/2023 14:47

I’d prefer:
bread
juice
noodles
chicken breasts…… I don’t need to know what’s in the fridge/what we’ll have for lunch etc. Just tell me what to buy!

“Sift through the information” 🤣

there are about 12 extra words to “sift” through

If your DH is unable to pick out

Noodles
Eggs
Chicken
Bread
Juice

From that then he needs more practice.

Would he come back with the same comments at work if he was sent to the stationery cupboard because they were going to make posters or stores because they were going to build an electrical gizmo saying he was unable to pick 5 items to collect out of a short email?

Taxiii · 28/08/2023 15:42

Yes, It's a list.

I have adhd and I’m dyslexic and dyspraxic and I’d find that a bit tricky to navigate if I’m in a crowd, in a supermarket and just generally trying to keep my shit together.

id prefer you to just give me a list of things to buy and then we can talk about the the stuff later
id probably come home with those items.
and tbf i would probably buy some more stuff on top because it looked nice lol
