How shall I arrange the furniture in this living room (pic)

This is an estate agent photo of our new sitting room (I added a silly fake view because I don't want people to know where I live).

Opening to the right goes to dining area of kitchen / diner. Doors to the left go to patio. Bottom left of the pic is the doorway to the hall. Fireplace doesn't work afaik.

We have a big coffee table, a sofa and a couple of arm chairs, plus side tables.

How would you arrange it?

I’d have everything central so nothing against the walls. Maybe a large rug, coffee table in the middle adjacent to fire
place, sofa one side looking at the large window, armchairs opposite so back to large window. Then you have a walkway all around to get to the different doors/ openings. Tv I’d prob put above the fireplace

That's an idea. hadn't considered having things away from the walls.

Yes definitely have things off the walls. You could add a wee side unit behind the sofa (I'd put one opposite the fireplace) and add a nice lamp to that. I also like a free standing lamp - put it in the corner by the window. Looks like a lovely room

What’s the view like out the big main window?! I think i’d want at least an arm chair facing out towards it so you can sit and have a cuppa and admire it if it’s a nice view.

What are the dimensions of the room? Furniture away from the walls looks better but may not work well if the room is small.

Can you post the floor plan of the room?

The room is not as big as the photo makes it look. The view is all the way to the sea 5k away. It's lovely.

I’d put the sofa parallel to the window with the lovely view. I’m a heathen so lie lengthways with my feet up or sit with my feet tucked underneath me. I’d be able to look out the window that way. Chairs opposite with Coffee table between.

or

chairs in front of the window with sofa opposite. Get a console table behind the sofa with lamps etc so you aren’t just greeted with the back of the sofa.

some kind of console/bookshelf/chair in corner near door to hallway?

the trouble is you'd want to walk from the kitchen to the patio doors so you’d need to walk around the set up rather than through it.
