Said by my 13 year old daughter, about her dad. Now she’s got the arse with me as I’ve told her she needs to have higher expectations.

More context needed. How is the golfing impacting you as a family?

ErrolTheDragon · 28/08/2023 10:20

I assume you also work hard (whether salaried or not) - presumably your dd is also ok with you doing your leisure activity of choice every day too?

If not, or if she's undervaluing your work, then it goes beyond needing higher expectations (which she does too).

Also to mind her own damn business

She wants to see her Dad in a good light.

You are of course right about him but this is about a girl making excuses for her Dad because that's what children do when they have a sub standard parent that they love anyway. I don't think it's an indication of her standards in general.

She's justifying why he doesn't spend much time with her doing fun things? Or he is out on the golf course at 6am back in time to spend a good half day contributing to family life?
