How have you already upset your kids today?

It’s twenty past 9 and my 4 year old DSS is crying because I wouldn’t let him have a curly wurly for breakfast (very wicked step mother over here)

Anyone else already upset their kids today? Haha!

I won't let my 5year old child sleep in the washing basket this evening. In the garden. With just a pillow.

Hellocatshome · 28/08/2023 09:21

My 16 year old DS wanted waking up at 8:30 I woke him up at 8;30. I have ruined his life.

There's a big pile of freshly washed, dried and folded bedding on the dining table awaiting transport to the airing cupboard.

Ds13 has just got up, wandered into the dining room and started casually rummaging through the pile looking for a duvet cover to lounge on the sofa with.

I told him to stop and that the pile was clean and meant for beds and to go grab his own duvet that's in use instead and bring it down if he wants.

He's huffed, stropped and gone back upstairs to bed instead 😂

Context- both teens have a habit of doing this and I'm sick of finding discarded duvet covers they've used once this way and then chucked back in dirty laundry!

I ate the last two pancakes. Apparently they were his. He hasn't ate a pancake for years 🤷‍♀️

My 17 year old wanted me to get out of bed at 1am and drive to Reading festival and collect her after seeing Billy Eilish because she was so depressed it was over she couldn’t possibly sleep in her tent and needed to be home to dea with the trauma of it being over. I refused and woke this morning to 20 “please mum please” texts. When I rang her she was fast asleep in her tent and will take the train home later

MrsFairweather · 28/08/2023 10:39

I said good morning to my 17 year old when she came downstairs and she told me she was sick and fed up with me and stomped back upstairs. Vile child. I miss the sleepless newborn days and the terrible twos.

CharlotteBog · 28/08/2023 13:10

He had to help pack the click and collect in Tesco car park with me. Another teenager might have seen him.

I've upset my 4 year old. We got kinetic sand out, I said if she kept taking the tools from her older sister without asking nicely and purposefully flicking sand everywhere, it would be put away. I have 2 warning but she stared me square in the eyes and dropped a handful on the floor. So I put it away.

She had a tantrum fling herself on the sofa and had a 20 minute nap despite saying she wasn't tired 😂

TreesWelliesKnees · 28/08/2023 13:21

I declined to buy ten-year-old dd a foundation sponge in Boots.

TheOldLadyOfThreadneedleStreet · 28/08/2023 13:21

I refused to listen to capital radio while eating dinner. Apparently the DC need this so as not to experience the ‘awkward silences’ and my boring conversations with my DH. Hey ho, the joys of teens.

Florenceatemycake · 28/08/2023 13:21

I went to get dressed and left my two year old with his father for 5 minutes. I can confirm that it was the end of the world.

WhoHidTheCoffee · 28/08/2023 13:25

I asked DS1 to get dressed in actual clothes for the first time since Friday (no illness, he just had a lazy weekend and long car journey which started early one day). Apparently IWBVU.

ErnestCelendine · 28/08/2023 13:30

I asked my 13 year old to hoover the living room.
Apparently none of her friends ever have to hoover and it's so unfaaaaaair.

bluechameleon · 28/08/2023 13:38

I went swimming. He was watching TV when I left. He was still watching TV when I got back. But it was apparently entirely unreasonable that I had left him alone (his brother was sat next to him and his father was in the house) and that I didn't tell him I was going (I did).

Alighttouchonthetiller · 28/08/2023 14:05

Chewing and breathing.

DH and I 'intolerable', apparently.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 28/08/2023 14:07

I brought them underwear shopping.

Mumof118 · 28/08/2023 14:13

I told my son he looked a mess and needs to tidy himself up.

He's gone off to work (age 18) unshaven for days and without putting a brush through his hair. His dad even had to iron his clothes. He looks homeless quite frankly and I'm fed up of how that reflects on me.

I've been told to mind my own business and everyone else there looks the same apparently.

I really don't understand why he doesn't want to look nice. He's a handsome boy, but it looks like 'living on the streets has been unkind to him'.

Glorifried · 28/08/2023 14:42

DD (15) keeps telling me to apologise to her for unknown reasons but didn't mention it when she wanted a lift yesterday.

I grew up in a house with a family member who did this and refuse to be treated this way.

I also have wine hidden away for when I need it...

C1N1C · 28/08/2023 17:13

I like these posts... I feel bad for you lot, but as someone who can't have kids, these posts help take the pain away by making me feel I'm not missing much.

The worst I get is when my cat walks 20 laps of my lap looking to curl up... only to not be interested when I actually DO make space.

Glorifried · 28/08/2023 17:18

@C1N1C you can probably interchange DD and cat as they can both be very disdainful!!

WunWun · 28/08/2023 17:21

I washed her bra.

Hellocatshome · 28/08/2023 17:24

@C1N1C I upset Dcat today as well as DS. I made him room to sit next to me on the chair which wasn't good enough so I made room on my lap which was not good enough. So I got out of the chair so he could have it at which point he glared at me and threw up on the tv remote control.

PNDshame · 28/08/2023 17:32

Firstly I wouldn't let my 5 year old have an ice lolly at 6:30am, then I made him eat the expensive yoghurt he begged me to buy him

Timeturnerplease · 28/08/2023 17:33

I moved 2yo DD2 to the potty when she was gleefully peeing on the floor and dancing in it.

Bananas1350 · 28/08/2023 19:49

I love reading these. My son will be 20 this year and has been actually an agreeable person though most of his teenage and childhood. There is a reason I stopped at one 😂. Keep them coming. I love these.

I actually get more sass from my cat than my son.
