If your babies eyes were dark blue when they were born, what colour are they now?

I have hazel eyes, DH has dark brown eyes and our 10 week old still has dark blue eyes (that have a tiny bit of light brown in the centre but not sure when this appeared!).

I’m so curious as to whether her eyes will stay blue or turn hazel / brown, I feel like if they were to change, they would’ve done so by now?

DH mum has bright blue eyes and my grandfather had blue eyes so there’s blue eyes on both sides.

DS's were dark blue when he was born, then they went brown and then hazel. I have blue-green eyes and his dad has hazel eyes.

All babies are born with dark blue eyes, because that’s what eyes look like before melanin production starts. Both of mine had dark blue eyes that are now brown.

Not all babies are born with dark blue, most non white babies have brown eyes and even some white babies do (including DH).

My babies all had dark blue eyes at both till 10 months then they went brown or hazel

DS1- blue eyes until 2, then went green and now light hazel.
DS2- blue and hasn’t changed yet (19 months)

I have dark brown eyes and DH has bright blue. Guess we’ll see what DS2 ends up with. I think eye colour can change until 3 years?

My first daughters eyes were so dark blue they looked black. She had the most strikingly beautiful eyes. The midwife told me they would never stay that colour. She was wrong. Her eyes are still a very dark blue In natural light but insures they have a really dark slate grey appearance.

They're the same as mine! I've never seen anyone with my eyes (until DS2).

DS1 had navy blue eyes, which started changing from about 2yo. Now they are green but weirdly look hazel when he’s angry!

That made me laugh! I am just the same - in my 40s now - the greener my eyes, the happier I am. If they’re dark hazel it’s a danger sign 😂

My 1st dc had blue eyes until age 6 yrs, then they became green. 2nd dc had blue from a few months old that stayed blue. 3rd dc had brown eyes from I think 5-6 months.

DinosApple · 28/08/2023 12:35

My eyes were bright blue at birth and turned hazel brown by 2yo.
Both my DDs had blue eyes until they were two, they then went green then amber by 4.

My brother had very dark brown eyes at birth which stayed that way. So not all babies are born with blue eyes.

My family are mixed heritage, so my blue eyes caused some excitement.

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 28/08/2023 12:43

My baby now has beautiful sea blue eyes

Jevwaypock · 28/08/2023 12:45

Mine had the brightest blue eyes until they were about 10 months now at 16 months they are hazely, eldest had dark blue for a few months but went brown around 6 months

imnotthatkindofmum · 28/08/2023 12:51

All 3 of mine had navy/black eyes at north and all turned dark brown. They turned very quickly though within a few days.

gwenneh · 28/08/2023 12:55

DH has blue eyes & I have green. Two of our DC have blue eyes and one has brown bordering on hazel and I suspect, like mine, they'll lighten in time.

birdsofafeatherr · 28/08/2023 12:57

One has light blue, one has dark green, both navy blue as babies

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 28/08/2023 12:58

DS’s are the same bright blue as mine. I assumed they’d go brown as they were dark blue at birth and DS has brown eyes but he’s completely got my colouring.

Milkand2sugarsplease · 28/08/2023 13:00

Mine - deep brown
DH - hazel

DS - blue/grey

HoppingPavlova · 28/08/2023 13:01

All of mine had dark sapphire blue eyes for ages, then one turned light blue (that wishy washy colour), some became ‘standard’ blue and one turned brown.

travelogue · 28/08/2023 13:02

DDs were and now they are Hazel like mine. I think mine have slightly more green but it could be due to aging! Confused my DSs both had more obviously blue eyes which resolved into blue-grey quite quickly.

HappyPurrrsday · 28/08/2023 13:08

Blue to green

Tessisme · 28/08/2023 13:20

Me - dark blueish grey
DP - dark brown

DS1 - dark blue, almost navy
DS2 - bright grey/blue eyes.

I did wonder if they would go hazel or brown in favour of DP, but they didn't.

toddlermom99 · 28/08/2023 15:01

Light blue now at 3 years old

AliasGrape · 28/08/2023 15:10

Still very blue though a little lighter than they were - she’s 3.

Mine are hazel, her dads are grey.

3 out of 4 grandparents all had blue though.

GigiAnnna · 28/08/2023 15:18

2 stayed blue, 1 went hazel, 1 dark brown.
