Lille just after Christmas

Planning a couple of nights in Lille, prob 27-29 December. Will get Eurostar from London. Questions - will everything be open as normal? Any restaurant recommendations? Must see tips? General advice? It's just me and DP so adults only. We love walking, eating, drinking and a bit of light museum and shopping action

Thanks

Everything should be open as normal. It is a small town with lots of lovely little restaurants and shops, perfect for wandering around. There is a massive pharmacy with beauty products (really giant) if you are in that sort of thing. You can also do a day trip from Lille to Amiens, just an hour on the train and a really sweet town with canals etc.

Lovely city, good shopping, nice bars, there is a good museum too - Palais des beaux arts. There is a metro for zipping about if you need to but most things very central unless you want to designer shopping village at Roubaix but even that’s very easy to get to. We had a really good time when we went. Only thing we missed out on was a football match which is a shame as the stadium looks great.

The Xmas market is on until the 31st December. It's not massive but quite nice - we went last year. They have a big wheel in the Grand Place too. It was indeed freezing but they had some beautiful street decorations and the shops had made a lot of effort too. Some lovely bars and restaurants. And the Westfield shopping if you want to escape the cold.
