You can use any of them if you swap the heads for each person.

NotMadeOfStone · 27/08/2023 15:45

I'm gonna assume you don't mean you would all share one brush 😁

dementedpixie · 27/08/2023 15:50

You could have a brush head each that can be attached to the one stem. They usually come with a coloured ring to attach to the brush head so you can tell them apart

We always have just one and obviously different heads per person. We have a little stand for the heads and the coloured rings tell each one who's who. I never thought of buying one per person, that would be the same as buying a hairdryer per person or similar.

LynetteScavo · 27/08/2023 16:04

The very thought of even sharing the electric toothbrush handle makes me feel sick 🤢

We have one each.

But then we own three hairdryers.

Deadringer · 27/08/2023 16:05

Even with different heads it's icky to use the same Toothbrush. Yuck.

PatsWoggle · 27/08/2023 16:10

We have one each, we have our own toothpastes and the hairdryer users in the family have one each too.
If you share what happens if one of you stays away?

dementedpixie · 27/08/2023 16:10

We have an electric toothbrush each - 2 in the bathroom for the kids and 2 in the ensuite for me and dh. Dd and I have our own hairdryers too!

Why? I don't share mine as I live on my own, but I rinse and dry it after I've used it, the handle doesn't go in your mouth, I can't see what's icky about it.

AppleKatie · 27/08/2023 16:12

We have one each too. I wouldn’t trust DH/DC to always change the head correctly.

foolishone · 27/08/2023 16:12

We have two because it means we usually have at least one charged. Plus I can keep one in the shower and take it away.

sashagabadon · 27/08/2023 16:15

But what if you all wanted to brush teeth at same time and imagine the rows if every time you went to use it the charge ran out and you were always the only one that thought to charge it! Better to just get your own!

Gameoflifeloser · 27/08/2023 16:17

We have one each because everyone's toothpastey spit dribbles down the brush (especially if you have kids and teens!)

Blergh. Yes they may wipe it off if you're lucky but it's still gross....

Of course some people will deny this happens 😂 but we all know the truth.

TropicalTrama · 27/08/2023 16:18

You need one each. Who can be doing with changing the heads 4 times a morning and again in the evening and remembering whose is whose. My kids have the junior oral B ones and they were £20 so hardly expensive.

Yes, this. I wouldn't share. All that dribbly saliva getting in the joint between the brush and the handle.

PatsWoggle · 27/08/2023 16:19

...the handle doesn't go in your mouth, I can't see what's icky about it.

If you get the opportunity, watch some slobbery children brush their teeth. They get toothpasty dribble all over the handle. Also the coloured rings that differentiate between the heads aren't attached, I can see it being a bit of a pot luck situation.

Gameoflifeloser · 27/08/2023 16:23

The dribbly spit is all about gravity. Slowly but surely the bubbles of minty pastey spit will edge down the toothbrush handle while it's either in the mouth, in the hand or in storage standing upright ready for the next person to come along.

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 27/08/2023 16:24

We have one each but will share handles if one needs charging. (We also have our own hairdryers)

School residentials, guide/scout camps, sleep overs etc, there's all sorts of reasons you need your own

UndercoverCop · 27/08/2023 16:29

The children's oral b ones are often on offer in boots or tesco for £20, DH and I have our own, different colours so they don't get mixed up, I agree with the toothpastey dribble. Also I clean mine after every use but DH clearly doesn't. I on the other hand am a nightmare for letting move run completely flat before recharging it which I'm sure wouldn't impress him.
Also do you never spend nights apart? I wouldn't want to default to a manual everything I or DH was away overnight.

NotMadeOfStone · 27/08/2023 16:29

Bleurgh this sharing thing is making me feel sick. Toothpaste dribbles and food from your teeth all running down the handle...

Sirzy · 27/08/2023 16:31

Boots currently have them half price. I managed to break mine so have gone for one for £25 but they had them from £10 for rechargeable ones

gandeysflipflop · 27/08/2023 16:32

I was thinking of buying dd her own set of heads for my waterpik flosser and use the same handle. handle goes no where near the mouth.

Oblomov23 · 27/08/2023 16:46

We have 4 oral b toothbrushes. Couldn't be bothered with the faff of just one, and then each person sticking on their red, yellow, blue etc head, each time. They sit in white pot that holds 4.

Electric toothbrush for the whole family?
Theraffarian · 27/08/2023 16:58

Surely sharing a toothbrush is just going to mean the whole family share germs more and get ill more often . So no I have never considered sharing one toothbrush base with anyone else who will breathe over it , not throughly clean it after using , and possibly not bother to swap the heads over each time they use it . Does rather turn my stomach.

I take mine to bits each time I charge it a give it a little scrub between all the parts , can’t imagine you doing that each time you swapped heads .

reluctantbrit · 27/08/2023 17:03

Really? I mean I assume you kiss your DH and hug your DCs and therefore breath the air around them?

When one of us is away we take travel toothbrushs as they are smaller and fit in the washbags better, especially if we don't have hold luggage.

I personally don't think I ever mistook the toothbrush head or didn't wash the holder after use.
