How much have you got recorded on TV?

Wondering if anyone else is the same as I've got Virgin Tivo and can record TV and Films and I believe Sky do similar well I seem to record loads over an extended period and get overwhelmed when it gets to about 50% that I start binging it all to get it down. I'm currently on like 15% and counted 17 films and about 25 TV episodes recorded.

The thing is after I finish purging the recordings I get fed up of TV and leave it alone and the cycle restarts.

So how much does everyone else have saved?

Not much.. I'm OCD and like my recordings clean and tidy.. l record.. watch .. delete.. no more than 3 things saved at any one time.

Gosh - nothing. It’s all on catch up, isn’t it?

thaegumathteth · 26/08/2023 20:48

Don't even have a TV that records!

I don't find that everything is and some stuff I've left for around a year so I wouldn't expect it to be like I had 25 episodes of the good doctor I had recorded that spanned the season before and the one currently airing, the same with 40 episodes of the goldbergs which I used to love but the writing went downhill so kinda stopped but recorded them as after watching so many series of it I wanted to finish it.

264 episodes of Casualty
79 Classic Corrie
26 Law & Order
67 Say Yes to the Dress

Then assorted other stuff that fills up 46% of my Sky Q box 🙈

CosyCoffee · 26/08/2023 20:55

My TiVo is on 63% at the moment which is pretty good, it often gets to 80 odd and I have to have a clear out.

I've got umpteen series links and wish list searches so there's always something recording. I know I'll never watch everything that's recording, as we also have things to watch on Disney+ and Netflix!

Mouldyfoodhelp · 26/08/2023 20:57

I double checked and all the 25 episodes left of 4 different programmes are available on demand, 10 of the films are not available on demand/ streaming and the includes 2 I recorded one on Sunday and one the Friday before.

Nothing. My TV doesn't do that.

Glad I’m not the only one. We don’t have sky or a flashy tv. I watch things when they are or miss it. Not a huge tv watcher.

I don't feel so bad now! I remember a few years ago catching up on Law and Order SVU and the 100s of episodes it felt daunting but I really enjoy the programme as a whole.

Which is fair enough. I go through phases of reading/ watching TV/ learning a new skill etc where I binge it a lot during any free time and then don't touch it for a few months. I read I think it was 22 books last month as I focused on catching up to those I'm in a sort of book club with where we have a friendly league table to see who's read X amount of books

Our BT box is about 75% full.

Also have about 1000 DVD's and YES, still watch them!
Currently 70% through Midsomer Murders in the living room while halfway through Lytton's Diary in the family room.

mum2jakie · 27/08/2023 20:08

Sky Q box is showing 98% full! 😂 So many interesting sounding series but limited time to watch it all!

Floralnomad · 27/08/2023 20:11

Every episode of Frasier , which never gets deleted , a couple of films and a few documentaries.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 27/08/2023 20:21

I used to have loads and got quite stressed by it. Now I don't have a virgin box and just use a fire stick. Don't watch near as much tv as I used to

Caspianberg · 27/08/2023 20:24

None. It would stress me out wondering when I would even find time to watch hundreds of episodes of something.

I only ever keep 2-3 spare books on kindle in advance also. Could be months before I get time to read, then maybe I get through a couple in one week if free

mysparkleismissing · 27/08/2023 20:24

It makes my hubby stressed I've things on our sky box that are 3 or 4 years old

I think he counted 24 different programmes and multiple episodes of some of them.

That's just sky not Netflix/prime/apple etc

It'll be there when I retire!

Marsyas · 27/08/2023 20:26

I’m about 80% full. It’s a mix of stuff I want to keep so I or the kids can watch again, and stuff I will delete once watched. Mostly the former actually. And no, it isn’t all on catch up, and a few times I have thought along the lines of “no point in having all the X Files / Buffy/ Red Dwarf (or whatever) on there, they are all on IPlayer - and then they get taken off.

IsThisNameTaken · 27/08/2023 20:46

YouView box is always over 90% full ... nothing I have recorded though, solely full of DH's rubbish programmes - goes back about 5 years. "Yes, I will definitely watch that soon ......".

bananaboats · 27/08/2023 21:12

Never had a tv that records since video player days, not sure what I'd need that for tbh
