What is the name of this tree?

I was cutting back a massive overgrown laurel bush the other day and realised that there was a tree growing up through the middle of it! It's this one in the photos. Does anyone know what type of tree it is?

Some sort of Cornus? It has opposite leaves which Cornus has.
