Why are some people absolute dickheads?

Not brave enough for AIBU but a subcontractor my DH agreed to take on full time less that a week ago, got pissed last night did a hit and run in his car, came home and got in the work van and proceeded to hit another 3 cars before finally being arrested. Thankfully, no one has been seriously hurt but I’ve been in absolute bits this morning and crying tears of rage for his selfish fucking behaviour. He could have killed someone and it’s extremely lucky he didn’t. I’m trying to just be practical and calm for my DH who is dealing with the insurance, police and the poor people who have been impacted by this. Just needed somewhere to vent. We are only a small company and we will be financially impacted by this but just focusing on one thing at a time at the minute. I just hate people sometimes.

Some people are sadly just very selfish and stupid, no matter their age.

Easier said, but try to focus on getting through it as karma will come back around for him.

If he was still drunk today from last night's bender then he's probably an alcoholic. It's a disease not really a choice when it gets to that level of severity. Hopefully he will now get treatment during a stint in prison to reset his life.

In your position i would feel very stressed sorting it all out but I've seen enough alcoholics to realise anger is a misplaced emotion.

That's a pretty big assumption! Why does everyone who does something shitty these days always have to be given some sort of label/excuse? Maybe it was just that on this occasion he drank too much and got pissed and did something crap. I get your rage OP, I would be absolutely furious too.

Thank you. He may well have issues with alcohol but I’m afraid I cannot muster any empathy for him right now. I’ve got an eye twitch from telling DH I’m fine as inside I feel like I need to hulk out and smash things with a giant green fist.

Some people suck.

I'm guessing the fact you've been in tears and raging about it means it's an unusual experience for you.

In no way is it okay what they did and you're entitled to be upset but there's no real explanation other than people suck sometimes.

But many, many people don't suck. So cry your tears and feel whatever you like then regroup emotionally and don't let it effect your life.
