Who fixes zips??

Wasn’t sure where to post this very mundane question! Where would you go to get a wetsuit zip fixed? Is it even possible?

DS pulled up the zip too hard and the moving part pulled all the way off so we can no longer use it. Annoying as it’s relatively new and they’re not cheap.

A sewing repairs and alterations shop should do it, or at least be able to advise if it is possible.

In a Taylor’s, in a dry cleaners. Had many a zip ‘fixed’ (they usually just replace it) cost about £15 recently on a Hobbs skirt that had a stuck hidden zip.

Ooh they also repaired the under basket of my baby’s buggy too so they’re used to all sorts of repairs. I’m sure if there’s one near you they wouldn’t balk at replacing a wet suit zip!

A seamstress/alterations place should be able to replace it for you (I don't think zips can physically be repaired once they're broken, but it's easier enough to replace)

I fixed one myself by using a video I found online. It was relatively easy and I'm not at all handy or technical.

Oh, since it's a wetsuit, I'd get it fixed by Alpkit - they fix all outdoor gear from any brand. I think you can probably do it by post.

You can get replacement pulls in various sizes from the usual online retailers for about £3. If the long toothed part has come away you can definitely get a alterations shop to replace. A very long sports quality zip is about £15 + the labour.
