Does anyone still have a toilet pedestal mat ?

I know they are seen as a germ-fest, but if washed weekly I can’t see the problem. I was just thinking that it might make for warmer feet in the winter 🤔

I haven't used one of those things for 30-odd years. How long do you sit on the toilet, for you to worry about your feet getting cold? Grin Wear slippers and/or fluffy socks.

SpunkyGibbon · 26/08/2023 08:53

Slippers are your friend @DustyLee123

DustyLee123 · 26/08/2023 08:54

I have slippers and fluffy socks ! And I do spend rather too long on TikTok 🤣

I do, and always have had. Our bathroom is downstairs and the flooring is quarry tiles directly on top of the earth (400 year old cottage) and the floor is freezing cold. I hate wearing slippers, so a pedestal mat is a must.

TolkiensFallow · 26/08/2023 08:55

No but unless you are weeing on the floor I can’t see why they would be any grosser than a bathroom floor mat. No style awards obviously.

If you want one OP then you do you!

UndercoverCop · 26/08/2023 08:56

Not with a 4 year old boy! He does check for splashes and wipes after himself so that's good. Our hot water pipes run under the floor by the toilet so it's often warm, just luck!

DustyLee123 · 26/08/2023 09:15

There’s plenty to choose from on the Dunelm website, so someone must be buying them !

Yeah we do. I’ve just always had one.

popandchoc · 26/08/2023 09:28

Yes no men in our house so hoping the wee all goes in the toilet though ..

viques · 26/08/2023 09:30

I do because I did the tiling myself and I messed it up a bit around the toilet bowl, so a mat covers my blushes!

Littlemissalone · 26/08/2023 10:09

Yes I do! Keeps my toes warm.

RedVanYellowVan · 26/08/2023 10:11

We don't use one but last year I was looking for a new bath mat and was surprised how many came in sets of two, bath mat and toilet mat. There must be a market for them.

Engineeringlife · 26/08/2023 10:15

My mum has one because she has carpet on the bathroom floor!!!

Caterina99 · 26/08/2023 10:20

We do. Our en-suite has carpet and haven’t got round to taking it out yet as it’s just me and DH that use it. However I’m not taking any chances with spills. Would rather wash the mat than have to clean the carpet.

We ripped the carpet out of the family bathroom that the kids and visitors etc use on the first day we moved in though.

TakeOnMe251 · 26/08/2023 10:23

Yes I do. Slung in the wash regularly it is fine

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 26/08/2023 10:34

My mum does, and it makes me shudder every single time I see it. But then she would also still have bathroom carpet if I didn't say no to her 🤣🤣

Oh and before everyone kicks off about me controlling my mum, she asked my advice when the bathroom needed new flooring.

user1471517095 · 26/08/2023 10:38

Yep, we have a white patterned Lino in the loo and it was starting to get discoloured in front of the toilet. From feet, I hasten to add!

LlynTegid · 26/08/2023 10:41

Yes and it is washed regularly.

usedtobeasizeten · 26/08/2023 10:43

No…my friend has carpet though 🫣

Tjjd2023 · 26/08/2023 10:46

We do but the cat likes to pee on them so right now, there's not one. He pees whether there is one there or not😒

LuckOfTheDrawer · 26/08/2023 10:47

My Mum ☹️.

Helenahandkart · 26/08/2023 10:48

I was told that pedestal mats exist to absorb any slight drips so I’m considering buying one after shouting at my ADHD husband yet again for failing to clean up the small amount of piss I trod in in my socks. Either that, or I’m going to start using his favourite band tee shirts to mop up after him.

AnchorWHAT · 26/08/2023 10:50

I do regularly washed no problem

GCAcademic · 26/08/2023 10:52

The only justification to have one of these if you have carpet in the bathroom. Otherwise, they’re just a piss sponge (assuming there are males in the house).
