I’ve always worn left and now I’m favouring right. Apparently one is the right and the other is wrong.

so, I’m asking here on a Friday night…

I don't wear one but I used to wear one on my right arm as I also used to wear bangles on my left.

Sugarfree23 · 25/08/2023 22:25

The opposite to your dominant hand.

But even better smart watches can be rotated so the buttons are on the correct side.

AussieBlue · 25/08/2023 22:27

Right but I have to take it off to wipe my arse otherwise it clangs on the toilet seat 🤢

Left wrist. I’m right-handed. The winding mechanism is on the right side of the watch, so that makes sense.

Traditionally it should be on your non-dominant wrist, afaik.

Echoing all this. Also, it’s much easier to do the watch up with your dominant hand.

Right. Always have done. I'm fairly ambidextrous, although would normally say I was right handed, but when I got my first watch at 7yo I was totally ambidextrous.
I find it almost impossible to do the strap up with my right hand.

runoutofgoodusernames · 25/08/2023 22:28

This is really quite fascinating and I’d love to know the psychology behind this. I am right handed so instinctively feel the need to wear it on the left as that feels more natural. However, both my parents (one a leftie and the other a righty) wore them on the right so I’ve followed suit. I wear an Apple Watch and I’m sure it would be better on the left so I I can look at stuff with my right hand, but I’m still pulled to to the right hand way of wearing… weird!!

TheDogsMother · 25/08/2023 22:29

Left arm for the watch and I'm right handed.

louderthan · 25/08/2023 22:29

Used to wear on my left but then I got tattoos on my left wrist and forearm so I swapped to the right!

RainBow725 · 25/08/2023 22:30

Right and right handed but I am a string player so it gets on the way on the left hand. Can't really wear rings on the left hand either.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 25/08/2023 22:31

Left. Right handed

RichardMarxisinnocent · 25/08/2023 22:34

Right wrist, i am left handed. Except when I am running when it goes on my left wrist because then I can more easily and quickly access and press all the buttons, instead of having to twist/bend my hand.

Ohyousillydivvy · 25/08/2023 22:35

I was always told that a watch should be worn on the opposite hand to your writing hand.

SophiaElise · 25/08/2023 22:36

Right. I'm right handed.

WobblyLondoner · 25/08/2023 22:42

On my right, though I'm right handed. When I got my first watch I used to wear huge chunky bracelets on my left hand so I just got in the habit ...

hexsnidgett · 25/08/2023 21:31

If you are right handed and wear your watch on your right wrist, what happens if you are holding a Brew and someone asks for the time?
I wear mine on the left.

I don’t know why, but this has made me really laugh tonight. 😂

Phos · 25/08/2023 22:46

Left. Did wear one on my right for a bit at one time. Not sure why. Fairly easy to get used to actually after a few days.

AustralianCrunch · 25/08/2023 22:46

I am right handed and wear watch on my left.

LastTuesdayinMarch · 25/08/2023 22:46

Right wrist for a left hander

AussieBlue · 25/08/2023 22:27

😂😂

CandyCaneLane0 · 25/08/2023 22:47

Right handed and wear it on the right, always been told it's wrong but doesn't feel right wearing it on my left

shitt · 25/08/2023 22:48

I wear mine on the left, I think it looks nicer? Also I have an Apple Watch and am right handed, so it’s easier for me to interact with it using my right hand. It also means I’m less likely to bang or scratch my watch because my left hand is less active

hopeishere · 25/08/2023 22:48

Right and I am right handed. My mum called it an "affectation" SmileConfused

00100001 · 25/08/2023 21:29

Left hand, and I am right handed

This^^

I seem to remember my very first watch being a Timex one and you had to wind it up regularly. The spindle was on the right hand side of the watch and therefore easy to wind up while wearing it!!

SindyisbetterthanBarbie · 25/08/2023 22:51

I'm right handed and wear it on my right wrist.
This goes back to the 80s when I was in school. I discovered I could have a sneaky look at my (Swatch) watch when I was writing without the teacher noticing whereas on my other wrist it was more noticeable. Just stuck with it ever since and now it would feel wrong on my left wrist

Boomboom22 · 25/08/2023 22:54

Left so you can use it if you are right handed. Otherwise how could you look at it when writing / doing anything?
