I’ve always worn left and now I’m favouring right. Apparently one is the right and the other is wrong.

so, I’m asking here on a Friday night…

Right and right handed

If you are right handed and wear your watch on your right wrist, what happens if you are holding a Brew and someone asks for the time?
I wear mine on the left.

If you wear the face on the inside you can see it when you're holding a mug.

UndercoverCop · 25/08/2023 21:38

Isn't it meant to be your non dominant hand, so you're less likely to knock it/it get in the way.
I wear mine on the left (right handed) and it doesn't match my rings as the strap is bright yellow

IamSmarticus · 25/08/2023 21:39

Left, and I'm right handed.

PickleSarnie · 25/08/2023 21:40

On my right. I'm left handed though. The twirly knob to change the time on olden day watches is on the awkward side then though but, being left handed, I'm used to things being awkward.

grayhairdontcare · 25/08/2023 21:40

I always thought you wore it on your left dominant wrist.
So right handed wears it on left wrist and vice versa

HamishTheCamel · 25/08/2023 21:42

Left. I'm right handed.

LampsAndWatches · 25/08/2023 21:44

I’ve moved it to my right wrist. I’ll update so no one is left in Suspense.
I’m right handed and knock it all, the time on my left wrist.

already feels weird…

I wear my Fitbit on my left wrist on a day to day basis. My Garmin I wear on my right as I use it for running and easier for me to see and operate. I have 2 different watches as the Fitbit screen is too small for me to see when I'm running but the Garmin screen is perfect size for running but too big for day to day.

Curlygirl06 · 25/08/2023 21:46

I'm encouraged by all the right handed people wearing it in their right wrist! I've been told many times that that is "wrong", and you should wear your watch on your non dominant hand. Therein lies my problem- I'm right handed and I slammed my right thumb in a car door when I was 10 and couldn't use my hand for about 6 months. I learned to write left handed, clean my teeth and lots of other things left handed and that's never left me. I still do the crossword and soduku left handed so as not to lose that skill and I'm in my 60's now. I didn't realise quite how much I use my left hand until I had an operation on my left thumb and had a cast on for ages and couldn't use it.

Lastordersplease23 · 25/08/2023 21:47

Left and right handed.

Tiredalwaystired · 25/08/2023 21:48

Left handed and put in on my right wrist so I can see it when I’m writing. Which is the right way if you’re a leftie

And since historically it has been considered “wrong” to be a leftie, it was also seen a “wrong” to west it on your right wrist.

HardcoreLadyType · 25/08/2023 21:48

I always understood that you should wear it on your non dominant arm. I m a bit surprised that so many people don’t seem to do that, but it’s what you become used to, I guess.

@PickleSarnie , one of my watches has the twiddly bit (bezel?) at the bottom of the face (ie, at 6 o’clock) so could just as easily be used by a left handed person, as a right handed one.

None of my children wear watches, as they use their phones to check the time.

hattie43 · 25/08/2023 21:48

Left

riotlady · 25/08/2023 21:50

Left. As a child I had a beloved Powerpuff Girls watch to help me learn to tell the time and wore it on the right, my mum told me she would bin it if I didn’t start wearing it on the left. So I did and got used to it!

bellac11 · 25/08/2023 21:52

How often are people changing the time on their watches for goodness sake!

Its only twice a year

Aworldofmyown · 25/08/2023 21:53

It's meant to be on your non-dominant hand.
I don't care and have always worn a watch on my right (right handed)

Threenow · 25/08/2023 21:54

Left, and right handed - and I couldn't care less if it matched any rings I wore, didn't realise that was a thing.

Merapi · 25/08/2023 22:05

Left. Anything else would be weird.

PatriciaHolm · 25/08/2023 22:07

hexsnidgett · 25/08/2023 21:31

If you are right handed and wear your watch on your right wrist, what happens if you are holding a Brew and someone asks for the time?
I wear mine on the left.

look at my phone using my left hand ;)

I'm a right and right, which i know is supposed to be wrong, but meh.

IndiKid2015 · 25/08/2023 22:09

Left hand, facing inwards if I’m going into a boring meeting and want to be able to just glance down and check my watch inconspicuously.

Errolwasahero · 25/08/2023 22:18

To those saying about having the face inwards. It took me much longer than it should have to work out how you could see the time if the watch face is pointing in towards your wrist (as in next to the skin)!

op hope you don’t get too stressed about the upheaval. Keep us posted good luck 👍

Errolwasahero · 25/08/2023 22:19

Oh and I’m left handed; have my watch on my right. 👍👍

Hummusanddipdip · 25/08/2023 22:20

Left because when I'm using a pc/laptop I can't rest my arm properly to be comfy if it's on my right.

IDontLoveTheWayYouLie · 25/08/2023 22:20

I wear mine on the left to cover up a shit tattoo.
