I've just chatted my way through the whole of Pitch Perfect 3, on the phone with my friend 🙈 . Chemo 15/18 today so I'm expecting to need to visit the cupboard of snacks and cereal shortly, and not sleep incredibly well. Always hungry & wide awake on a Friday thanks to the steroid!

I might pick up my crochet too - may as well make use of the awakeness!

Dd2's been in the shower & now chilling with another book, in bed.

Dd1's chatting away to her American friend. Wouldn't mind her showering soon-ish so I can at least try to sleep at a reasonable hour.

What about you lot? 🙂

Three of us watching an old episode of Would I lie to You? We went to the cinema this afternoon and tomorrow DD and I have to take back a dress which she was about to pack when she discovered it still has the security on.

mondaytosunday · 25/08/2023 21:03

Just finished (home cooked) fish 'n chips dinner. Watching Only Murders In The Building with my 18 year old. Once she goes to bed will take gods out for last walk.
My son (20, lives on his own) is at a scooter rally - bands started playing at 9, but he has to work tomorrow so won't stay too late (I hope)! His boss is there too so he can't misbehave!
I'm on a diet so no wine 😞, which I normally look forward to on a Friday!

lucysmam · 25/08/2023 21:26

@mondaytosunday your typo of gods instead of dogs made me laugh 🤣 I suppose it probably does feel that way sometimes mind.

I saw Only Murders in the Building advertised, near our local theatre, the other day. Presumed it was a performance there & meant to look it up. I'll have to do that! I need something to watch that isn't the food channel!

I hope you get some sleep!

My husband's having a bath, my 4 year old is asleep in his bed and I'm in our bed...with the baby. 😅 he will not sleep in his cot so is usually in our bed by about 9 when ive given up the battle.

I'll scroll for a bit then drift off to sleep until the first of many night feeds. 😴

CaramelicedLatte · 25/08/2023 21:34

Glad to hear the treatment is progressing well, @lucysmam. Are you tolerating it OK and feeling alright in yourself?

Our house is quiet. DH and DM are watching the rugby, DS1 is gaming in his room and DS2 and DD have just gone to bed. I won't be far behind them. I've got some pain from a herniated disc so I'm waiting for the Naproxen and Paracetamol to be at their peak so I can finally drop off.

lucysmam · 25/08/2023 21:38

@CaramelicedLatte I've tolerated it really well, thank you! They were going to stop at 12 but since I've had nothing much at all in the way of side-effects we're going to 18 & then a break before anything else. I can manage with the odd sleepless night (can always catch up with a nap if needed) and eating everything in sight for one day a week.

What's Naproxen? Is it like ibuprofen? I'm off to google.

Sat on the sofa with my sleeping sausage dog with a bottle of cider and some chocolate.
Dh not due home from work for another half hour
Dd as a reward for good gcse grades went to London on her own yesterday to spend a few days with my brother. He's taken her to see Sam Fender tonight at Reading.
My nerves are shot!

Thislittlekitten · 25/08/2023 21:45

@lucysmam So glad to hear you are getting on well. I always look forward to your threads.

We have just had a late tea. I think I’ll have a bath.

Kids are sleeping out tonight so enjoying the peace and quiet!

Simonjt · 25/08/2023 21:46

I’m attempting to watch the new guardians of the galaxy, but it just isn’t very good. The rest of our things to be moved are being picked up in the morning, so I should do a bit more packing away, but I’m just bored of it now, we really don’t have loads of stuff, but I’m convinced it’s multiplying.

I didn’t realise steroids can interfere with sleep.

Whattheduck · 25/08/2023 21:46

Dh is in Germany with work
Dd has been at work since 18.30 til 22.30 (I’ll need to pick her up only local so not far to go)
I’m watching Popmaster Tv on channel 4

lucysmam · 25/08/2023 22:04

Aw @Simonjt sorry to see you're fed up packing. It'll be worth it in the end! How are your dh and the kids managing? Will your cat move with you?

I never thought about the steroid affecting sleep til I mentioned to the nurse who put in my cannula last week about the food & chatting & she said the sleep is probably down to that too (although could be hormonal too I guess).

Hello @lucysmam hope you manage some rest tonight. We are all tired out DD had happy results yesterday but I think a combo of the fizz to celebrate and relief has left us all exhausted.
She has gone to bed with a hot water bottle as it's chilly here. DD 13 has also taken herself off to bed with an apple and a glass of milk!
We have been watching some athletics and then an episode of Shelter on Netflix which is fairly engaging.

onwardandupwards · 25/08/2023 22:18

We are watching Matilda the musical for the 3rd time today with my dd 5 who is not even remotely tired despite a 2 hour park visit and a very long puddle jumping walk this afternoon, she's singing away. Dd 23 has just finished work and is waiting for her kebab to be delivered, ds 18 is gaming and the 3 year old is sleeping at last. The dog is sleeping on ds 18 bed after a mad half hour chasing his kong around ( hes 14 so tires easily). Hope everyone has a lovely evening 🙂

They’re managing just fine, they went to a theme park after work, tomorrow they’re going on a boat trip and spending the night on an island. Yeah she will, I’ll drive her and the dog over rather than flying them, most airlines that fly there don’t take animals, so driving is easier.

louderthan · 25/08/2023 22:34

Had a lovely dinner of linguini with seafood, chorizo, red chilli and fresh basil. Had some wine and a Magnum and watched the athletics and Celeb Masterchef.

mummybear247 · 25/08/2023 22:38

Got the kids to bed early so I've been watching tv on the sofa with the dog (pug) off to bed soon as ds will more than likely want a bottle at some point tonight....glad u are well @lucysmam hope u get some sleep and you can't beat a good nap in the day x

lucysmam · 25/08/2023 22:43

@Simonjt I didn't realise you have a dog too - although I'm sure you've mentioned it before! What breed is he/she? Are they missing their other companions? It's nice to see your dh and the kids are settling well 😊

@louderthan your meal sounds lush!

Thanks @mummybear247 , hopefully not see you on a 4am "can't sleep" thread tonight 🤞

I'm just watching Sam Fender at Reading - would have liked to see Lovejoy's set but it's not being streamed 😢

Simonjt · 25/08/2023 22:53

He’s a Shiba Inu, I don’t think they’re missing them at all, I think they’re enjoying the peace and quiet, although the dog has fewer opportunities to steal and destroy toys.

mummybear247 · 25/08/2023 23:00

@lucysmam well I hope not to be on there again at 4am but u never know lol he's normal really good at sleeping from 7.30pm till at least 7am but he's got teeth cutting so it's possible I will be up at around that time as that's the time it wakes him the past couple of nights xx

lucysmam · 25/08/2023 23:43

Aw bless him @mummybear247 , fingers crossed for a good night for you both 🤞 Must be horrible for babies, when you think about it 😢

Ooh @Simonjt I had to google for a picture, what a beautiful breed! Although, I bet the hair he sheds isn't so beautiful.

Thanks @lucysmam I'm off to bed and may or may not see u again at 4 am lol x
