Does anyone know what May have bitten DD?

This looks like the reaction I get to horsefly bites; the bite itself often looks ragged, but the photo is a bit blurred.

If the bite develops into a "bullseye" then it may have been a tick. Google the NHS website for pictures and advice.

Depending on the age of the child, I'd probably be seeking medical opinion on this as it looks nasty.

I’d guess horse fly, they are nasty buggers. I’d draw a line round it and keep an eye on it.

I've had reactions like that to wasp stings and mosquito bites, but I agree it could be horsefly. I'd smother it in antihistamine cream to start with and be alert for worsening or other symptoms developing.
