Primary teacher filmed kicking and hitting horse found innocent

I never start threads about things in the news but this has shocked me. How on earth has this woman been found innocent when she was filmed kicking and hitting the horse?! I don't believe she caused lasting injury but surely being found innocent is condoning treating animals in this way?

I totally agree it’s shocking and I don’t understand how a jury came to this decision. You can see she completely lost her temper with the horse and kicked and punched it, even if the horse was found not to be injured later surely the video actions show animal cruelty (and more worrying that’s only what she did in public…).

edwinbear · 25/08/2023 17:15

I was surprised to see this as well, but I can only suppose there is more to it than what was reported in the press/social media.

She kicked a defenceless animal, it doesn’t matter that she has been found innocent of animal cruelty, she kicked the horse, end of discussion

lifesabitchandthenyoudie · 25/08/2023 19:03

@Clymene word.

Willmafrockfit · 25/08/2023 19:03

there were more men on the jury for a start
plus i think all the fuss about the hate campaign and loss of job perhaps swayed them
otoh perhaps convictions are hard to win

twistyizzy · 25/08/2023 19:04

Clymene · 25/08/2023 19:02

And yes, anyone who hunts with hounds is an evil cunt

You know that live hunting is now banned? So we now only follow a pre-laid scent by a human runner?

SquirrelSoShiny · 25/08/2023 19:05

I'm not really sure how ANYONE is defending her. I'd rather she had kept her job though but actually been punished for her crime. This just seems bizarre.

lifesabitchandthenyoudie · 25/08/2023 19:02

@twistyizzy the ones who treated their horses in the way we are talking about. It isn't a one-off, or unusual. Them lot.

It is unusual in my horsey circle. No-one I know would treat any animal this way and I would directly challenge anyone I saw acting this way

Willmafrockfit · 25/08/2023 19:07

@lifesabitchandthenyoudie
some dog owners are very fierce when their dog runs away

newnamethanks · 25/08/2023 19:08

You'd be happy with her looking after your child Squirrel? I wouldn't trust her with anything weaker than her. She's an arrogant bully at the very least. You've seen her method of 'chastisement'. She's not fit to teach.

SushiSuave · 25/08/2023 19:08

@twistyizzy But if you happen to come across a poor fox while you're out... 🤷‍♀️ what can you do ey?

Also a fellow horsewoman here. What she did was disgusting. Behaviour like this makes horses head shy and ruins them. She’s a nasty piece of work. The horse got loose, never did anything wrong as such. And did not deserve that.

Well we haven't yet!

CwmYoy · 25/08/2023 19:09

She lost her job, she's had death threats her family have had death threats. Her life is ruined. Isn't that enough for you, OP?

Or sackcloth and ashes as well.

Walkden · 25/08/2023 19:10

"When is punching a horse in the face acceptable? Just wondering"

Well in true mn style the argument goes that female violence is less likely to cause harm than male violence, so far less serious. A horse is a big animal so likelihood of harm very low...

Don't agree with death threats, never said I did. But I do agree with her losing her job, as teaching is a profession where certain standards should be upheld both in and out of the classroom. Beating an animal is not one of them.

Willmafrockfit · 25/08/2023 19:11

i wonder if she was simply suspended from her job and will be reinstated

SushiSuave · 25/08/2023 19:12

@Walkden and everything you've listed has come as a consequence of her actions. Doesn't mean she should not receive the appropriate legal punishment that I believe she deserved.

OP posts:
Willmafrockfit · 25/08/2023 19:12

i imagine she lost her job for being charged but now the case is over she is free to work again.

I worry this may be the case now that she has got away with it.

I am shocked she was found not guilty. She is a disgusting human being who deserves everything she got. No way should she be looking after children!

No one is naive enough to believe that.

Yep that's good enough for me the silly bitch!

Willmafrockfit · 25/08/2023 19:13

there are animals treated far worse tbh

twistyizzy · 25/08/2023 19:14

RunningFromInsanity · 25/08/2023 19:13

No one is naive enough to believe that.

That's your choice. In our hunt we haven't hunted a live scent since the ban and we definitely don't seek them out.

Boomboom22 · 25/08/2023 19:15

Well when kids are left in the care of parents who do far worse to them with the knowledge of our systems I don't know why you expected any different. Perhaps the magistrate or judge really doesn't like horses?
