We are over from Dublin for musicals yet again but the trains are striking tomorrow.

We are staying in Gatwick airport tomorrow night before an early flight back to Dublin next day .

We will be leaving London at 22:30 tomorrow evening . What’s the best way to try to get to Gatwick without the train ?

Tube to Morden and taxi ?? Thanks so much for any wisdom, local advice !

Book an airport taxi to Gatwick as it'll be cheaper

HappiDaze · 26/08/2023 10:05

Pre book it online

How did you get on? Got one of the v scarce trains back from LB last night, felt like last train before Christmas!

Poor station staff at London Bridge trying to explain that yes, there were trains last Saturday but strike means none this week. He would not have it

Thanks so much for all the help ! We took the tube to Morden and then an Uber was 47 pounds which I thought reasonable !

Ssudio my son was also over for the Arsenal match and he said Victoria felt like the entire city was trying to leave via there at about 6pm yesterday !!!

Glad to read it was OK in the end. Your son hopefully was not too downcast.

I would get the tube to Blackfriars and take Thameslink to Gatwick.

Sssudio · 27/08/2023 10:32

Wow, that's good value, we were at East Croydon at 8 and nary a black cab to be seen stop assumed Uber would be on super high surge pricing, glad that wasn't the case

Not on a strike day after 5:46pm

Ha ha I love how you got all these replies with all sorts of weird and wonderful suggestions and in the end went with your own original idea which was perfectly fine!

More importantly, how was Oklahoma! ?

FoodieToo · 27/08/2023 21:01

WhatapityWapiti yes that's true 😂!! Well when I priced everything the Morden option seemed to best .

I really liked Oklahoma . Reviews are AWFUL !!!! We saw Wicked on Friday and Wizard of Oz last night . Wicked mediocre ( am embarrassed to say that ) and Wizard of Oz amazing !!

Thanks again everyone for your help .I just love your amazing city !!!!

Ah thank you . He was grand . He had just gotten his Leaving Cert results and was out the whole night prior so I think maybe too tired to care about how Arsenal performed 😎.
