What are you up to this bank holiday weekend (in the UK)?

We are running errands and doing some shopping on Saturday, seeing friends on Sunday, and chilling on Monday. Will probably go for a pub lunch. The weather should be mild/warm but may be wet, so that could affect plans. What's everyone else up to this long weekend?

Night shifts for me!

DinnaeFashYersel · 25/08/2023 12:37

It's not a bank holiday in Scotland but I hope you have a nice one in Englandshire

Sorry! I should have checked before writing 'UK.' Hope you still have a lovely weekend!

@thenhewasoff prison!

ErrolTheDragon · 25/08/2023 12:52

We've got to go away sat/sun to do something more 'business' than pleasure, it's not ideal it's a BH as it makes the roads so much worse. I'll work on Monday and take the following one off in lieu, I usually do this as it's quieter and better for work as the rest of the team is in the US so that's their Labour Day.

Serenity45 · 25/08/2023 13:08

Off to Braunton, Devon in the camper van just for 3 nights with DH and our pup. Saunton sands is the loveliest dog friendly long beach and there's a great campsite very close by (plus some OK local pubs!). Really looking forward to a change of scene after a tough few weeks.

DS's birthday tomorrow (14) so we're off to watch The Meg 2 in the afternoon. He has an athletics competition on Sunday and he and DD are also both competing on BH Monday, we'll go out for dinner on the Monday evening to celebrate his birthday as he likes to follow his usual pre-race diet before competitions. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we won't spend the entire weekend getting rained on!

Comefromaway · 25/08/2023 13:10

Due to train strikes dd is driving ds down to London because he is playing in a concert there with the National Youth Music Theatre so me and dh have a weekend at home alone.

Monday I am driving ds up to his university city as he is playing in a gig there at a family festival type event.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 25/08/2023 13:14

Nothing . Although I'm working tomorrow evening but it's only 5 hours and i enjoy it so, no biggie.
My house is tidy, washing is done , there's no need to do anything really apart from eat and watch nothing on telly.
I don't plan on going out either I've just been to waitrose so fridge and wine rack are fully loaded

Tiddlywinks63 · 25/08/2023 13:25

Not a lot.
A nice walk with the dog, perhaps stop for a coffee somewhere en route. A bit of gardening, crocheting, art or crafts perhaps.

jay55 · 25/08/2023 13:30

I'm not working so will probably stay in and not go out when it's likely to be busy.

Crunchymum · 25/08/2023 13:56

We never do much on BH weekends. We live in central London and find all the 'popular places' just get too busy. One recent BH we went to Greenwich and it was just hideous.

We'll probably head off the beaten track. Maybe the woods on whatever turns out to be the driest day (it is looking a bit damp!). We have a lovely nature reserve nearby so we'll head there at some point and have a long bike ride.

Was debating London Zoo as we have membership but I imagine that will be extra rammed this weekend so we'll go one day next week.

cocksstrideintheevening · 25/08/2023 13:57

Not much, BBQ with friends tomorrow, back to school shopping with the kids at some point and polughing through three weeks worth of holiday washing!

Qilin · 25/08/2023 13:59

Flying home from holiday in the US so it will mostly be spent getting over jet lag! That and washing clothes 😆

Saynotomargarine · 25/08/2023 15:03

Cycling up the canal path to a country park with a picnic
Off to the Peak District for a hike. It’s only 50 mins away.

Thedishonthecoffeetable · 25/08/2023 15:43

We're at Sunshine music festival. Loving it. Only down side is the moaners moaning because some things have changed, 90s night tonight and this OAP is looking forward to it with her glow sticks !

cushioncovers · 25/08/2023 15:55

Well all my plans are out the window as I've hurt my back. So sat here feeling grumpy and sorry for myself.

Isseywith3witchycats · 25/08/2023 16:08

Going on Baildon Harley Davidson run on sunday with about 500 other bikers then on Monday is our motorbike clubs open day in Shipley, so a day of rock bands, stalls games etc and hard work but worth it as our charity will benefit (Yorkshire Air ambulance) so hoping the weather is going to be nice to us on both days

TooBigForMyBoots · 25/08/2023 16:09

Me and my kids will be mostly having Covid.

xogossipgirlxo · 25/08/2023 16:24

I’m in different time zone, as currently on mat leave, completely forgot it’s bank holiday. Doing my usual newborn stuff then😂

mondaytosunday · 25/08/2023 16:25

Totally forgot it was a Bank holiday. So... nothing special!

OldTinHat · 25/08/2023 16:47

Celebrating my birthday with lots of meals out and meeting friends!

helmoin · 25/08/2023 17:18

Family rave and street party on Saturday, funfair on Sunday, and a kids story museum on Monday. Would have liked to get out of London but the rail strikes made it difficult.
