Spider repellent spray/killer?

ImABox · 25/08/2023 11:08

I used to by Amiral Spidergone spray which was brilliant. Could spray the door frames and corners and nothing would cross or would die in the process. I guess it was too toxic as can’t find it to buy now! That stuff was just fab.

Lots of spider sprays on Amazon, but I’m looking for one that remains active on surfaces to deter/kill spiders.

Im not looking at the merits of not killing spiders. We have a false widow Infestation outside and they are starting to get nearer the windows and come in.

Also insect foggers/spider bombs? Thinking if we can clear the garage a bit of where they live less likely to invade the house

Op boil the false widow and/ or ref raid raid spray. Make sure you spray and wait because many will fly out after spray.
Make sure you spray around door frames and window frames.

Inside, not sure if it's bad for pets, dianthus earth is supposed to be good.

Summerwashout · 25/08/2023 11:13

We had huge amount they breed prolifically and we managed to get them under some sort of control a few years ago by doing a large cull.
In garage I would do all three above.

ImABox · 25/08/2023 11:18

Thanks. Any found will be sprayed or squished. Just need to know which spray is the most effective (toxic). They really do breed and don’t seem to give a fuck about being disturbed. The best eggs are quite distinctive too

Ref raid raid spray? Have you got a link?

I've never seen the eggs do you have a pic?

Summerwashout · 25/08/2023 11:27

Googled red raid ant and cockroach killer

Andthereyougo · 25/08/2023 11:29

To prevent spiders in your house collect horse chestnuts. Put them on windowsills, loose or in bowls. No spiders.

Summerwashout · 25/08/2023 11:32

On the other spider thread someone's said its the novichok of the spider world

ImABox · 25/08/2023 11:34

Oo can you link the other thread?
Will have a look at the red raid stuff. The spidergone stuff was brilliant as it seemed to keep working for a month after spraying which is what I am looking for

Please link I am very invested in a killer spray for the bastards - me and DDs are severe arachnophobes and I live in pure fear during sept/oct

Summerwashout · 25/08/2023 11:41

The other recommendations are the flea spray indorex, people think that lasts longer.

Dianthus earth is natural and a powder you lay down.

Summerwashout · 25/08/2023 11:42

I don't know he to link but I had the red raid mentioned and indorex and dianthus earth are also what are mentioned generally.

JimnJoyce · 25/08/2023 12:05

I use Spidex seems to work well

People always say this but for years my windows were rarely open and we still had an average amount of spiders.

ImABox · 25/08/2023 14:59

Had some indorex and just been spraying outside the windows with it. Had some false woods come out of cracks I didn’t know they were there. Might have to just do around the windows and doors once a week the next month. Man I miss the Amiral Spidergone. One application and that was it.

I have a fly screen mesh over any windows that get opened upstairs. It has a Velcro like attachment and can be cut to any size.
We had a gap under our door sill where the sealant hadn’t been out all the way across and fixing that helped. Also spider sticky traps in the corners of all rooms. It helps seeing them stick and dead somehow.

red raid bought and some smoke bombs for the garage to keep the numbers down. Since clearing under the garage overhang last year they don’t seem to have come back there. But had them come inside the house last year, bold as anything not even hiding in a corner.

Will try and find one I took last year. They are kind of tiny balls that are maybe 0.5-cm and smooth round and grey. Look like tiny round pebbles or stones, not the usual sticky looking masses of eggs but smooth

I use this stuff and it works a treat. I spray it on skirting boards and round window/door frames as a repellant. A family member who lives in an old draughty house (with loads of spider crevices) recommended it to me and I've used it for the past 3 years. Occasionally find a dead one but nothing worse than that.

Spider repellent spray/killer?
iDontBelieveAnyOfYou · 25/08/2023 15:51

Spiderex. Its made for CCTV cameras, spray every couple of months and hangs around for ages. Acts as a deterrent but also leaves residue that kills them. It can be used indoors but be warned it can initially leave darker patches on emulsion paint but we find that after 24 hours it fades back to normal. Worth patch testing first but we've never had a problem with it on wallpaper, carpets and walls.

Summerwashout · 25/08/2023 16:24

@ImABox how many would you find in the I've go? We had a false widow web with lots of little balls in it I dint know why I assume? nd you that wss little bits of dust or something?

Oioicaptain · 25/08/2023 16:44

Varying amounts. Yes the little balls are their eggs sacks, or maybe food they’ve parcelled up for later but always seemingly perfectly spherical

Am pleased to have ordered something people seem to think is the one!
