Thank you SO much! I stupidly have given myself an anxiety attack I think. I feel nauseous all day and then in the evening when I force myself to have dinner I suddenly get an appetite..I then read a review for someone saying they had increased appetite then threw up all night so I've now spiralled. Gosh starting SSRIs are so hard!! How are you finding ecitalopram?

Thank you for reassuring me!! I'm so sorry. I'm guessing the heightened anxiety is normal and nausea is an anxiety thing for me. I hope you're well!

Heya I take citalopram and it’s never made me nauseous. As with most anti depressants I did find the first week or so a bit emotionally tough but it levelled out after that and it’s been a real help for me getting back to a good place.

best of luck OP!

Never made me nauseous.

vipersnest1 · 24/08/2023 21:48

I'm now taking it for the third time (had a rough time for the last two years). I've never had an issue with feeling sick.

Thank you so so much! It's definitely giving me nausea but because I'm scared of being sick my mind is probably making it worse then it is. It's just frustrating because I'm trying to force myself to eat but then with the nausea I develop panic attacks. It's so exhausting! Thank you for your reassurance. I hope you're doing amazing!

Citalopram gave me insomnia.
If this happens ask for Escitalopram which is the same but doesn't have that effect

cherrybakewell24 · 24/08/2023 21:49

I've been taking it for 15 years snd it's never made me sick. I'm on 40mg now too so quite a high dose.

It's funny you say that, I had the worst vivid nightmares last night and woke up every hour. Also hot sweats. Doesn't help I'm on my period too 🙈😂 thank you for your advice!!

As per PP, been on citalopram for years and no sickness. I too am emetophobic and it’s reduced my anxiety and therefore nausea instead of increasing it.

I can't thank you enough for your reassurance. Did you get the nausea at the beginning though? I know it might be tough to remember. I'm just checking my nausea is normal. Thank you so much

Oh that's wonderful to hear!!! Did you find you had nausea in the beginning when it was getting into your system but it subsided? I'm hoping that it's normal and it'll pass. I'm sorry you have emetophobia too. Its so draining!

Nope...... No nausea for me either. Appetite possibly went down a little too begin with but then just went back to normal. Never felt better!

robinsnest1967 · 24/08/2023 21:58

Clocking up 20 years here, varying doses of 20 to 40mg and never felt sick or been sick. It's a wonderful drug 😍

Twoshoesnewshoes · 24/08/2023 22:05

I felt sick for the first few weeks on Citalopram, but have never actually been sick from that.

Blahblahblah245 · 24/08/2023 22:08

No nausea or sickness as a side effect, I am terrified of being sick but as an awful side effect of my anxiety, I can feel nauseous and even vomit. Thankfully citalopram helped this for me, and while I still find it very hard, i even feel slightly calmer if, for example, my children have V&D (still a dad job but defo work in progress).

Iamacatslave · 24/08/2023 22:18

Citalopram saved my life and never made me feel nauseous.

Roundandnettledr · 24/08/2023 22:21

Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly with it. Would really encourage you to persevere for a week or 2 as it can take that long for your body to get used to it and side effects will hopefully settle down
