Famous surname names for girls?

PringleandDorito · 24/08/2023 15:17

Ok this is a bit of an odd one but we own 4 male cats! And they all have famous surname names lol and we are rescuing a girl one now and I want her to fit in. Our dogs follow their own theme and so do the Guinea pigs so don't want her left out of this but can't think of any famous surnames that would fit a girl?

Ooh I do like Marley tbh. Suits a cat. Although apparently he was a wife beater. I know a baby Marley thought so am probably overthinking.

Carroll
Anning

"Madonna (she doesn't have a surname?)"

She does, it's ciccone

Might just be me but why on earth are you leaning towards men's surnames, Marley, Presley (I know Lisa Marie but that's not why is it?!). So many brilliant women out there to choose from!

Curie
Nightingale
Kahlo
Truth
Frank

Or more modern

Parton
Lumley
Hadid
Chanel
Swift

Personal favourite - Mabuse 💃

PringleandDorito · 24/08/2023 16:07

@SunbedSprinter suppose I view them as more obvious names Grin but yes maybe should pick a woman!

Brontë or Monroe if you want people to know they're obvious names

But Frank is definitely a name and Anne Frank was definitely not a bloke!

I think Bardot is perfect

ThreeRingCircus · 24/08/2023 16:27

I definitely think you should pick the surname of a famous woman rather than a man's surname that is a female name. Your male cats are all scientists or famous leaders so although I love the idea of Swift or Jolie I think the feminist in me wouldn't want her to be the token singer/actress celeb name compared to the male cats. I admit I'm probably overthinking this far too much though 🤣.

I love:

Austen
Brontë
Boleyn
Fry
Christie
Lovelace
Curie
Pankhurst
Nightingale
Earhart
Parks
Rowling

I like Brontë.
I used to teach a girl named Monet ( though think he was a male artist)

monpetitlapin · 24/08/2023 20:20

All the cool intellectual ones seem to be covered so here's some fun frivolous ones that haven't been mentioned as far as I can see:
Chanel (as in Coco)
Versace (as in Donatella)
Gaga (as in Lady)
Spice (as in wordplay on Scary, Baby, Ginger, Posh and Sporty, as if Spice was their last name)

PringleandDorito · 24/08/2023 20:22

Winfrey and Monroe are definitely my favourites I think! I like the others and they make me think of the really cool women behind them but when I think of it as a stand alone name I think those work best! Massively appreciate all the input, thank you
