What fears did you have that never came to pass (lighthearted)

At the age of 46 it occurred to me that so far the things I feared most in my life never came to pass thankfully.

• I never fell into quick sand
• I never had a creepy crawly sneak into my ears and lay eggs so that one day I would wake up with 100s of creepy crawlies on my face.
• an airline company never lost my luggage
• I never had a tarantula accidentally crawl onto me
• I never drove off an open Quay into the river and started to go under with twin babies in the back and had to make a snap decision about who to rescue first.

What irrational and rational fears have you held that didn't come to pass? Maybe it will give us something to be grateful for today.

My insides didn't get mangled when I swallowed chewing gum nor did a tree grow inside me after swallowing apple pips.

Ask me about the zombie apocalypse in 20 yrs time. There's still time for that.

That my parents didn't tie me to the grass and mow me....recurring nightmare!

Didn't catch rabies while holidaying in France
Didn't die in an avalanche skiing
Didn't accidentally drink bleach
Didn't fly a kite into a pylon
Didn't get splinters inside me from chewing the end of a pencil (or if I did didn't die)
No nuclear holocaust (still time I guess!)

I didn't get the plague. Quite worried about that when we learnt about it at primary school.

Also electrocution by pylons and collapse due to aerosol sniffing have not yet featured despite (or perhaps because of) heavy warnings in childhood.

Nuclear apocalypse! I grew up pretty much expecting it. There's still time, I guess, but I'm old now and don't care.

I never got raped because of my skimpy outfits. I mean, I did get raped but it had nothing to do with clothing.

Likewise, never got a kidney infection from wearing short skirts.

Never broke a leg because of platform shoes (still time for that, though!)

I did get stuck in quicksand, but it wasn't like in the movies. I was almost disappointed!

Men I slept with did 'respect me in the morning', or at least they were friendly & polite.

Haven't yet got brain cancer from mobile phones.

Stepping on the cracks, walking under ladders, breaking mirrors ... did not lead to mysterious disasters 😅

I never got on the wrong plane and ended up on the other side of the world

Have been able to cross the road successfully every time so far.
Ate sweets that had been on the floor but lived through the consequences.
Never spontaneously combusted.
Never left out by father christmas due to fighting with my sister.

Alien abduction. I spent years worried about being abducted during the night

Didn't throw my purse or phone in to a river just because I was crossing a bridge.

An airline company lost my luggage (skis), but they were delivered to my door within 24h, which saved me hauling them back from the airport 🤣

I didn't have to work out who to give money to when I won big on the lottery.

I didn't get piles from sitting on a cold floor.

My nose didn't grow when I told a fib.

Father Christmas still came when I wasn't asleep.

I've never been run over by an ambulance and I've never fallen through a staircase or pier.

Didn’t get kidnapped by a man who came up behind me and clamped his hand over my mouth.

Haven't been framed for a murder, although there’s still time I guess.

As a child I had a specific worry that I would somehow end up living in a tough New York ghetto (I must have seen a movie or tv show) which weirdly did sort of come to pass but only for a couple of months and it was actually fine.
