Would it bother you flying on Friday the 13th?

We'll be flying on Friday the 13th and I'm starting to freak myself out with the superstition! Already nervous about flying anyway so this isn't helping.

Every time I tell people what date we're flying the reaction has been the same "oooh I wouldn't want to fly on that day!" it's unlucky etc.

Would it bother anybody else or am I just being an idiot? Grin

You are being an idiot. Is this a serious question?

frozendaisy · 23/08/2023 22:05

It would likely bother me more than I know it should.

laneyc · 23/08/2023 22:05

@Aquamarine1029 Yes it is a serious question!

I got married on Fri 13th....it was cheap! And yes, I'm still married!

Clefable · 23/08/2023 22:06

No but we got married on Friday the 13th Grin

laneyc · 23/08/2023 22:06

@frozendaisy Yeah me too, to be honest it didn't click at first until others started pointing it out saying how unlucky the date is Hmm

I don't think planes remember the date

laneyc · 23/08/2023 22:08

I shouldn't so freaked out but I am. Perhaps me being nervous about flying really isn't helping either

Divebar2021 · 23/08/2023 22:08

Are you also worried about the drive to the airport?

Hawkins009 · 23/08/2023 22:08

I'll get my passport and head for the plane ✈
Travel safe op @laneyc

laneyc · 23/08/2023 22:09

I suppose anything bad in general could happen that day, not just flying

OP posts:
HermioneWeasley · 23/08/2023 22:09

You are being ridiculous

SunnieShine · 23/08/2023 22:10

It would worry me, even though I know it's just superstition. Not enough to cancel if I had already booked. But enough to choose another date if I hadn't.

Just an uneasy feeling of tempting fate...

Hbh17 · 23/08/2023 22:10

No, of course not.

Watchkeys · 23/08/2023 22:11

How many Friday 13ths have passed without you even thinking of air crashes?

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 23/08/2023 22:12

What do you think might happen?

TropicalTrama · 23/08/2023 22:13

If something bad is going to happen because FRIDAY THE 13TH it’s more likely to occur in your home or car than on a plane. You’d think you’d be safe staying in bed but something like 800 Americans a year die from getting tangled in their sheets so flying somewhere seems like a good shout to me even if you’re really superstitious.

Chewbecca · 23/08/2023 22:14

No, it wouldn’t bother me at all. I don’t believe it being Friday 13th makes any difference to the likelihood of something going wrong - do you really think it might?

Snugglemonkey · 23/08/2023 22:15

No

Mademetoxic · 23/08/2023 22:15

I'm flying on September the 11th this year on holiday. What do you make of that ?

Winnipeggy · 23/08/2023 22:16

No, I'd love to fly on any day of the year

NeedTheSeaside · 23/08/2023 22:16

@laneyc

I wouldn't call you an idiot.

a year after 9/11. We had flights into the US. We hadn't clicked because the tickets weren't dated in that format. We did momentarily gulp & frown, but never seriously considered changing them.

How many flights have gone down on Friday 13th in the last 50 years?? I bet you, no more than any other date, it'll be fine.

If you're that worried, I'll go in your place.

BringMeTea · 23/08/2023 22:17

No it wouldn't. And I hate flying.
