First world gin problem!

Yes, it’s a first world problem
Yes, it’s my own fault
Yes, I’ll get over it

So, for whatever reason, I totally forgot to pause the Craft Gin Club box this month. Got email this morning thanking me for my payment - could really do without them taking £45 this month as had to buy new car battery couple of weeks ago, was our twins birthday yesterday so, overall, the month hasn’t been the cheapest!

Have asked them if they would cancel the month’s order, it’s at least a week till it would go out for delivery so not as if they have sent it already; but they just came back with their FAQs about when in the month you can pause a subscription.

Has anyone had any luck getting CGC to cancel a box on the day they take payment for a box the following month?

If I really can’t get it back then I’ll just drown my sorrows in gin next month so not all is lost 😜

While I’m waiting for an outcome of my begging them, come and cheer me up with your tales of things you have forgotten to cancel, or made a mistake when ordering……….

Cancel next month's now?

Cancel next month's now?

I’m on a 3 monthly plan (which contributed to me not remembering to cancel this time!) so I would have to check when I can actually cancel the next one if they don’t agree to refund this month. But, in their email reply, CGC did ask if I wanted to suspend my membership, so I’ve said yes please!

Oh well OP. There are worse things to have a surplus of aren't there?! GinSmile

During the height of the covid panic I managed to hold a delivery slot for Waitrose for my elderly grandparents. To do this, I put a £40 bottle of champagne in the basket. When i remembered that delivery was imminent, I went on to try and change the items to something useful like bread or toilet rolls but it was too late to change it! Couldn't get through to anyone at Waitrose and the website was crashing due to everyone trying to get deliveries so my shielding grandparents enjoyed a random bottle of fizz!

Luckily, they thought it was an early anniversary present. I cringe thinking of the poor delivery driver going all that way just to deliver champagne 😆

Can't help you but I did the same. I hope it's a good one. It always takes me by surprise as it's not September yet.

I'm also on the 3 month plan and I justify it because its my birthday in September, then it's Christmas and the December box usually has a few extra bits in. March because its a bit of a crap time of year then June and that's summer = gin.

That made me smile - I hope it made your grandparents smile too; did you ever tell them what happened?

I have a friend who put a case of her favourite champagne into the basket to secure their Christmas slot at Tesco. She put her food etc in but, somehow, managed to forget to take the 6 bottles of champagne out, even when she added more alcohol. When the deliver confirmation email arrived she was surprised at quite how much her Christmas shop was as she didn’t think she’d been too extravagant - then the delivery arrived and the first thing on her doorstep was a case of champagne 😜

I’m glad it’s not just me!! I do hope it’s a good one, and that they don’t send the salted caramel creams they did a few months back as they were too sickly sweet!!

My main excuse to DH when it arrives will be the menopause making my brain the equivalent of a colander 🤪🤪

That's you and me both then. I was going to pause this months because I've actually bought three bottles from them recently, one as part of the £30 surprise box promotion (really good value and a brand I'd been coveting for a while, plus all the snacks etc) and a couple of other bottles because discounts, vouchers etc. But I forgot.

Good thing it doesn't go off and I am fortunate to be able to self regulate my gin consumption to a reasonable level.

Yep - sounds the same.

I regulate my gin intake by not buying tonic water 🤪🤪

Looks like the humour I’ve used in my emails to them has worked and someone else has looked at it (reply today is from a different person to the messages yesterday). Had an email from CGC this morning saying if I refuse the delivery when it comes, then let them know, they will refund the cost of the box without waiting for it to arrive back with them.

They have also asked how long I’d like the account pushed for and I think I’ll say 6 months as that will be the equivalent of 2 boxes. It will also give me some breathing space from having to remember to cancel the following box!!
