Neighbours a few doors down from us have recently gotten a beehive according to NDN. We have a few fruit trees in our garden as well as blackberries which the bees are constantly on. The apples from our tree often fall onto the path meaning there are bees around your ankles when you walk down the path. They often swarm in our garden too.
I KNOW they don't want to hurt me but I'm pathetically quite scared of pretty much any insect so am not enjoying my garden at the moment.
We have 2 young children. Is it safe for them to be outside when they're swarming? Is it safe for them to carry on picking blackberries? And is it safe for them to run up and down the path? I know bees don't attack unless threatened but I'm wondering if they would see any of this as a threat?
Considering removing all fruit from our garden (we don't have any flowers just lots of grass). Will this make much difference or will the bees probably still hang about? Any tips for getting over my fear?
