Does your 5yr old LOVE Lego? Mine does. She made a "Science Desk" this morning all on her own. She tinkers away in her room and comes up with all sorts of creative stuff. I definitely don't remember being this clever at her age.

Care to share what your 5yo's make too?!

Note: Single mum here, true lone parent with no help from DCs dad, doing it all on my own (it's fucking hard), so I'm a little bit proud 🥹

This might be totally normal for 5yr olds to make, I have no reference point!

That’s really well made and she has a flair for that sort of thing clearly 😊
my eldest is a Lego aficionado too and loves making his own tiny little creations. He’d love those science flakes and bits of equipment!

Whiskeypowers · 23/08/2023 09:48

Flasks even 😂

WhiskersPete · 23/08/2023 10:21

@user86654111

Has she been watching breaking bad?

🤣😂🤣😂

she's done a great job.

what type of kit is the blue bottle from?

No idea! She has so many sets.

I've just asked her and she said it's from the Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent set.

That is lovely @user86654111. I love Lego and used to spend hours playing with DS 1 and 2.

This is an old photo from when DS1 was about 4 1/2. He may have had some help with the buzz lightyear spaceship but I think the little spaceships were his own work as I am OCD about keeping sets together.

So creative! Look at all these wonderful creations.

So nice to hear of others' DC who love to create.

Your lovely messages have me beaming ☺️

Absolutely brilliant OP. I still love lego - it is a fantastic “toy” that teaches so much. Your daughter’s science bench is wonderful! A sign of an inquiring mind - exactly what the world needs!

ScienceDadOliver · 23/08/2023 10:33

Hats off to you, supermom! Your daughter's Science Desk is a testament to her imagination and your nurturing support. Being a single parent can be tough, but moments like these remind us of the joy and pride that parenting brings. Keep celebrating those creative moments together! 🌟👩‍👧‍👦💪

Clever, intuitive girl! You must be proud! Love lego!

Polik · 23/08/2023 11:21

My DD8 found a tiny piece last week that she thought looked like a shower head.

From that inspiration she built a shower. Which became a dog grooming room. Which became a pet play park with water feature. This was all completely on her own, took most if they day.

It helps that her big brother was/is a "Never Follow Instructions" type lego builder. He's nearly 18. Last week he built for his sister, so he says an amphibious flying seaplane-car-boat with slide and driving board. All in white (he's a stickler for colour blocking)

@user86654111

its interesting that it's not from any kind of chemistry based set, yet she's used it appropriately.

their minds lock in so much information.

What a heartwarming thread. I love her creation. My 2 year old makes some wonderful creations with his blocks. It's an amazing feeling isn't it ♥️

MargaretThursday · 23/08/2023 19:52

That's cute!

I've just had a FB memory with Lego come up from ds when he was a little older.
He'd made a Spitfire, Fairey Swordfish, Concorde, Harrier and Hurricane (all planes)
And a Tiger Tank.

He's about 10 years older now and I suspect he would make the same.

WhereTheTeapotsJibberJabberJoo · 23/08/2023 21:24

5? Wow. She is clever! That's lovely. I wouldn't have had a clue at that age. Loved Lego but I was older before I was able to make anything good.

WheresTheRemoteControl · 23/08/2023 21:27

That's good. My 5 yr old couldn't do that.
Personally as a grown adult, i can make a ' tower' and pretty proud of it haha

DebbieLouiseDairyleaCheese · 23/08/2023 21:54

This is so lovely! I think she should keep it on her bedside table or shelf ❤ my boys haven't done any Lego today but they are a bit older and don't make such nice pieces 😂 my 9 year old said he loves her arrangement 💐

FictionalCharacter · 23/08/2023 22:02

Just lovely!

hot2trotter · 24/08/2023 21:16

Does she want to 'keep' everything she makes? My eldest used to make some lovely creations but he wanted to keep all of the models so eventually we ran out of lego! In the end we compromised with just taking a photo of each creation (from numerous angles) so I have a full album somewhere of his models! He's nearly 11 now and interested in lego whatsoever unfortunately.

Well done to your DD.

Ha! Yes we're getting to that stage. This is the current project and she's quite reluctant to take it apart and start over.

Think we have to make a trip to the lego store soon.
