Please give me something to distract me from my thoughts

I really want to post my situation but it's too identifying. I'm trying to distract myself but not doing very well. Playing my usual games and doing very badly because I can't concentrate. I've done MN, FB, usual youtube vids and Instagram. Anything else you can recommend to distract me?

Sudoko or crossword?

Listen to favourite songs and sing along or mouth the words if you need to stay quiet.

Maybe tell us your issues and change the facts a bit for anonymity

No one could prove it was you. If you need to get it off your chest, just post with some bits tweaked.

Could you try something that isn’t visual. So maybe a podcast, or an audiobook narrated by someone with a lovely voice? I can’t recommend any, as I can’t settle with audio, but someone else may have a suggestion or two.

Or, as pp said, maybe pop in earphones and listen to music. Not sure what your tastes are, so hard to advise.

I don’t do it often, but one of my favourites when I just want to switch off for 10 minutes or so, is Last Train To Lhasa by Banco de Gaia - I just spend the track picturing myself on a very scenic journey.

Binge watch something on tv. Something that doesn’t require you to concentrate much, like stand-up comics or a sitcom that you like.
I like writing menus of the food I want to make when I want distraction. I end up with pages full of meal ideas and my favourite foods

Just ask for help with your situation already. That's what you need to do. Nothing is going to adequately distract you.

I do Below Deck Australia on Hayu and travel videos and films about sailing round the world. You can name change and discuss or try counselling.

Start a new thread and change some things about your experience. Change ages, places, countries etc.

Thank you for your supportive messages last night. I had a long bath and took a herbal sleeping tablet and actually slept really well. I found a private FB group that is related to the issue that has been on my mind and posted there. I've received positive reactions and advice and am feeling (slightly) better tonight.

I'd never heard of this before but I love it. Thank you!

@SmoothSeasDoNotMakeGoodSailors - hope you’re feeling ok and that the FB group is helping.

Glad you liked the track, it really is my go-to switch off!
