Can you remember this children’s book from the 70s? Pippa?

Pippa was (I think) a pop star with long flowing ginger hair, a fur coat and a friend who looked the same but had blonde hair. Very 70s illustrations.

It was a picture book from the 70s I had as a child, just a flimsy paperback one I think… can anyone remember it or did I make it up?

I’d love to find a copy of it exists…

Not "Gemma" by Noel Streatfeild? (I know it's not a Pippa!)

Usernamenotavailabletryanother · 22/08/2023 23:21

No, it wasn’t Gemma- but I loved that book too!

Pippi Longstocking (Astrid Lindgren) has long red hair.

Thanks for the answers- but it wasn’t any of those. Pippa in this book was glamorous and an adult. I wish I could remember more details…

It was probably a tie in book for Pippa the doll.

Shocking, isn’t it.

I think it will be because Pippa dolls are very collectable and it is, as another poster said, a tie-in book.

I remember looking for a copy of Rebecca’s World for my DC and nearly fainting at the price. But it was written by Terry Nation. He created the Daleks so it was, and is, very sought after by Dr Who collectors. Pity.

Yes, handy thought of the Pippa doll connection until @WhenLifeGivesYouLimes mentioned it- that was a good shout.

Thank you all 😊

Etsy is ridiculously overpriced, you might have more joy with ebay.

CatChant · 23/08/2023 21:06

@Usernamenotavailabletryanother I’ve just seen your book is up for auction on ebay. It is listed as a “Pippa doll book” and it’s currently at £15 plus p&p. Still not a bargain, but it proves there are copies around for rather less than £90.

Ah, thank you @CatChant- even seeing the photos of the pages has transported me to another dimension!
