Three men might be the answer?

Kind of light hearted but also a serious thought 😆

Just to be clear, I'm not actually seeing any of them and don't have any plans to, but if I could just combine their best bits they might be perfect. We're all middle aged, good friends and none of us has any plans to settle down or ever live with a partner again. I'm enjoying the single life tbh (and opportunity to socialise with 3 men!) but the world is so based around couples, that it still crossed mind that a partner might be nice occasionally.

Man 1 - very good looking, very good shape, very good dancer. Not terribly bright. He's pretty good at very small chat, there's always something to talk about, but there's no point trying to talk to him about the issues of the day.

Man 2 - I have absolutely no intentions in his direction. I don't find him attractive at all, I've known him more than 20 years, he's more like a brother, but he is such a good ear when you need someone to talk to and very funny too. I literally come home with aching cheeks from laughing after and evening with him. We share our one big passion (a hobby) in life too.

Man 3 - Very very opinionated, to the point of obnoxious, but such good fun for a heated debate about all the big issues. A clever educated and interesting man....in small doses.

Anyway, if I could put them together I may have found my perfect man. Good thing I don't want one 😆

Yes, I could go with something like that too

LunaNorth · 22/08/2023 22:33

What about the sex? Man 1, I suppose, if he’s fit and a good dancer.

Yes. We have a little tickle sometimes 😆

I'd go for Man 2 now I've got the children bit out of the way. There is no substitute for someone who makes you laugh and the shared interests strengthen things through difficult times

LunaNorth · 22/08/2023 22:44

Jolly good 😂

minipie · 22/08/2023 22:45

This sounds like a more adult version of 3 men and a baby 😆

Shag 1, Marry 2, Avoid 3.
Though I appreciate that isn't what you asked!

Nah. I'm not marrying anyone and a good row with 3 is fun. Maybe 1 😆

3 sounds obnoxious. I'm rooting for 2.

BlackJumpsuit · 23/08/2023 04:27

Are you actually describing Joey, Chandler and Ross? 😂

GarlicGrace · 23/08/2023 04:42

Oh, I miss people who can have a really heated argument about Important Things and still be friends! I swear I used to be surrounded by them, before the 21st century happened and everybody picked a trench to feel victimised in while firing insults across the No-Man's-Land Of Offence.

The only person I can have these arguments with now is also good-looking, fit, and a brilliant dancer. He's my brother, though ... so I guess I HAVE got the three-in-one you wished for, but he's a total non-starter as a partner 😂

StarlightLady · 23/08/2023 05:40

Keep searching for No. 4!

C1N1C · 23/08/2023 06:25

I vote for the guy you friend-zoned!

So much cliché in this it's unreal! You've got the dumb fit guy and the bad boy... go for the actual decent one you've ruled out!

Yes, I don't particularly want a "relationship" I just want some interesting people around me. There's nothing I love more than a putting the world to rights debate, but there are fewer and fewer people you can do it with.

If I was looking for someone to "settle" down with and be a decent husband and father maybe, but I actually think changing things from being friends would ruin everything with this one. Way too much to lose and I don't want that life anyway, been there, done that.

Man 2 sounds like a dream. Someone who can make you laugh all day long and have lots in common with a shared hobby. I think people can seem more attractive the more you know and like them. Plus if he’s not too attractive then he’s not going to gain the attention of other women, so less chance he’ll run off and leave.

Maybe in a different lifetime, but there's a long and complicated back story. He's not quite single either! I mean he thinks he is, but he hasn't let go. There's always a flaw....

Reminded me of the Sondheim lyrics

Why not both instead?
There's the answer, if you're clever:
Have a child for warmth,
And a Baker for bread,
And a Prince for ... whatever-

I get this... but nice guys don't last long. While you're enjoying yourself with all the bad boys, all the good ones are getting married... then what's left???

If guy two ended up in a relationship and got married, would you feel you've missed out?
