Charity Plastic Bags

In 6 weeks, we have had 16 charity clothes collection plastic bags through our letterbox. Is that an unusual amount? 4 Breast Cancer, 6 cancer generally, 1 children's heart disease, 1 children's air ambulance, 2 coast guard, 2 animal charity.

Seems a lot. I never fill them because I take stuff to the charity shops locally.

Makes me wonder how many just end up unused in landfill which annoys me. I put ours in the supermarket plastic recycle but I bet loads go into landfill.

I use them as bin liners. I read somewhere that the amount they actually give to the charities is miniscule, they're a bit of a scam.
I could be wrong. But I still used them as bin liners.

We get a lot of these too and usually at short notice eg they'll collect 2 days later. But I've started using the bags to take my stuff to charity shops because they are really strong!

Check out anglo doorstep collections they do not send out these bags. They collect from your house for free www.anglodoorstepcollections.co.uk book online

Another vote here for bin liners. They are the perfect size.

I use them as bin liners too.

Also second using Anglo Doorstep Collections, they've been wonderful for helping me declutter as I book a collection each month and then I'm obliged to get a bag full of things ready for them.

There should be a distributor on the bags, if you contact them they will put you on the don't deliver list. It ususally works , although I get the odd bag but nothing like i used to get. Our distributor was East London Textiles.

I’ve seen the concerns raised on Mumsnet about some charity collections, and I totally get where that’s coming from. I’m currently using Donate Clothes for their home collection service and, so far, they’ve been really good. I’m not sure if they cover your area, but I know they operate in Birmingham. Of course, it’s always smart to double-check their credentials before you go ahead and book. 🤗
