Talk to me about Lapland please

2 adults and a 6yo, 5-8 days, usually prefer to arrange everything separately ourselves rather than all inclusive, but we would do either if it gives us cheaper/better options. Interested in Santa, snowmobiles, sleigh rides, and other activities. No idea what any of the little towns are like for options nor ease of getting around.

Where have you been? What was it like? What would you have done differently? Thanks

Which country/area are you going to? Lapland is quite big.

No idea, only just starting to look into it, probably Finland.

We just booked for 2024 through Canterbury Travel. Probably could have done it cheaper if we had done it ourselves but I don't have the time or energy and the reviews are excellent.

We went through Tui and stopped in Yllas. We did 4 nights, I'd say 5 nights would be enough personally.

Yllas was nice but very small, the restaurants opposite us closed very early so we could only eat in the hotel unless we ate earlier.

We struggled to get all inclusive so went bed and breakfast but most of the trips include food so wasn't that bad.

My friend stopped in Levi and said how busy it was, if we were to go again I would go there.

Couldn't fault Tui. The only issue was the excursions could only be booked when you get there and it was a scramble to get what you wanted. They are also VERY expensive so increase the budget! Think £500 for an experience for 2 adults 1 child. You get to visit Santa included with your trip and there there is 'tasters' of the excursions so huskeys/reindeer ride. When I say tasters I mean sips 😂

I joined a Facebook group called visit Lapland before we went that was very very helpful. Lots of pointers as most people were going from the UK and lots of reviews for the hotels.

Rovaniemi would fit your needs. I have been twice independently rather than as a package, much prefer to arrange it myself. Father Christmas is there, and there are plenty of places offering all of the other fun stuff

Thanks. I'll try the Facebook group too, will be useful for a range of ideas.
