Looking for recommendations of hair salons in London

I'll be there for work for a week and was thinking of making the most of it and go to a decent salon. Has to be a blonde/balayage specialist (I'm also looking to have a hair cut).

The kicker is that I'm fairly decent at doing my own hair and only go to salons as a "treat" but normally end up being disappointed because I can do the same (or better at home).

If you are going to be in Central London do you realise how much you are going to pay to go to a top salon? If you are staying with a friend, then ask them to recommend a good salon in their area. I am in North London and we have several top class salons.

Yes, I'm aware. A hair cut is around £250 and for the dye job I'm assuming around £400-600.

I'll be staying at a hotel and my local friend doesn't go to salons. I've asked in a FB group and had some pointers, but I thought the quality of many of them was subpar

Rush in The Strand are very good for balayage. Ask for Rez. They have a colour discount on Tuesdays so it's much cheaper.

Which part of London op?

I'd go to Adam Reed and ask for him:

I’ve had an atrocious experience with Rush - I know they’re a chain but I would never use a single one of their salons again.

I would go to Salon House - not sure who is best for balayage - or Hebe on the Strand (again, not sure about balayage specifically). I use both regularly and see wonderful colour jobs leaving.

Ideally central :)

You can’t generalise about a chain…. I use someone at Rush who was southern hairdresser of the year two or three times. So I would go for a particular individual in a salon. You need to be booking quite far in advance for some high profile stylists though.

He isn’t central though so doesn’t fit your brief OP 😊

Yes, I'm aware of that :) I'll be there in 5-7 weeks (which might not be enough)

Yes. Rez is really good. Ask for him to do it.

It definitely depends on the branch. Some of them are awful. I tried the Strand branch for a cut and blow dry with Rez. It was good. Moved on to roots - again great. Just had balayage do e by him and it's turned out fab.

Fair enough - glad you’re happy. I always start with a wash and blow dry the first time I try a new salon and obviously broke my own rule that time. OP, hope you find somewhere.
