Power bank

What do I need to consider when buying a power bank for my phone? Do they do super fast charging or regular charging? Are all power banks basically the same?

No, they aren't all the same.

I regret that the one I have is really, really heavy, which is a pain.

I got mine from asda their blackweb one, the higher mAh it has the more power the bank can be charged.

Eg 5000 mah, would possible do a basic charge, the one I use is 15,000 mAh.

Input and output- might have a usb and a usbc port but each might only be input/for charging and not out put/to charge the device so double check what you need it to charge, your cables and the ins/outs.
Check against airplane regs if you are planning to travel with it.
Check the weight if you are planning to carry it around vs just in suitcase or spare at home.

It depends on your phone.

I have a wireless MagSafe one which requires no lead and also behaves as a stand too. But they only work for certain iPhones.

My brother has a Samsung fast charger that charges his phone in 20 mins.

I have this, it's slim but not the lightest. Good capacity though

What do you want it for? My Anker 10,000mAh one will charge my phone and watch two nights and have a little left in it, so it's great for festivals or camping weekends. My tiny little 1000mAh one is good for a topup late evening if I've been on the phone all day.

Want something small to fit in a crossbody or backpack to top up when I've a phone-heavy day.

I have one that fits in the palm of my hand. I take it everywhere and keep it in my hsndbag

HerNameIsIncontinentiaButtocks · 22/08/2023 11:28

Yeah, one of those tiny ones that's barely bigger than a lipstick seems ideal then :) Cheap too. I'd go for a good brand like Anker rather than a random pick.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 22/08/2023 12:08

If you are an iPhone user, don't bother with the official apple one, it's crap. You want at least 10000 mAh. Anker are a decent brand, we've had a few that lasted a good few years before the kids broke the charging port.

CMOTDibbler · 22/08/2023 12:51

Anker every time. I have a few of theirs, and the one the same size as my iphone but which has wireless and wired charging is my favourite one as I don't need a cable in addition

I've been happy with this one

Tis me again - was looking for something else and this popped up. This would do a Samsung phone just fine wouldn't it? I presume it would also charge ereaders and headphones but not laptops, am I correct?
