Does anyone get e-ticket fear when attending gigs?

...that something will go horribly wrong, and despite having the ticket stored on several devices, it won't be accepted? Wondering if I can really trust TicketBastard when they assure me that my e-ticket as stored in Google Wallet will be accepted even if I don't get a data signal at the venue? In which case, why can't I just store the ticket with QR code as a pdf, like other e-ticket vendors let me?

Standing queuing outside the venue on the night... hear someone muttering "I can't get it on the screen..." 😱 takes out own phone and checks for the umpteenth time... doors open! sweating now, heart thumping" ... "lemme in ya bass!" Phew - I'm in! The relief!

I miss the old days of paper tickets. Now got to keep my fingers crossed all goes smoothly on Saturday evening, and there's no wailing and gnashing of teeth! 🤞

I thought it was just me. But yes, i am like this.

megletthesecond · 21/08/2023 20:14

Same. I've only been to one gig since this has been a thing and I got myself into a right state about it. They did download from ticketmaster into my Google wallet with no problems though.

Paper tickets were so much less stressful. I never lost them in 20 years of many gigs.

I take a screenshot of the ticket as well. That way at the very least I can access the image in my photos if my wallet acts up or no signal.

But still get the fear!

I either save to apple wallet (first choice) or as a pdf to Files, also screenshot for the latter as my files are on the cloud. If it's really important I also airdrop them to the person I'm with.

I tried screenshotting my ticket for Saturday and got a snotty pop up from TM/B that it wouldn't get me in! Twats! 🤷‍♀️

Oh no! So far no problems for me but that would stress me even more!

Rockbird · 21/08/2023 20:28

You can't screenshot them anymore. They have a code on them that refreshes every few seconds. I'm pretty sure that they say that they work without internet access so no need to worry.

EvenlyDetermined · 21/08/2023 20:32

Ah yes, I have had ones that won't screenshot thinking about it. Have also had ones that had to be in their own app for every person attending, no showing them for the whole group from one phone.

LlynTegid · 21/08/2023 20:34

The government should step in over ticket sellers, or perhaps local councils who licence venues make conditions such that you can save to files or print out an e-ticket. Where I have them I print on the back of something.

Offyoupoplove · 21/08/2023 20:37

O2 was the absolute worst. I couldn’t view my ticket because my phone (still in contract!) was too old. They didn’t respond to messages. Eventually managed to get it working on my hisband’s phone. But definitely sticking with ticketmaster who email you the pdf from now on!

PleaseGiveMeBackMySummer · 21/08/2023 20:39

YEP! Same with when I'm going to a theme park, museum, attraction, show, or anything that you have an e-ticket for! Like with others, I print the screen to preserve a copy with barcode and reference number etc!

43ontherocksporfavor · 21/08/2023 20:40

Yes! Airport boarding passes too. I love the ease of just remembering my phone and everything being on it but also adds to the dependency on it which I’d rather not have.

TooMinty · 21/08/2023 20:43

I went to a gig on Saturday night that I had an e-ticket saved on my mobile phone. But I started scrolling through my inbox to find it and the woman on the door said "just tell me your name and I'll find you on the list". So don't worry, you will probably still get in!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 21/08/2023 20:48

Gigs, trains, cinema, swimming .....

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 21/08/2023 20:53

Ticketmaster have a scrolling thing now over the barcode so it has to be open on the app.

No screenshots.

Rogue1001MNer · 21/08/2023 20:55

Sooooo stressful

Unicorn2022 · 21/08/2023 21:47

TicketBastard 😂😂😂. Yes I totally have that fear. I've got tickets in AXS for concerts next year and I can't stop myself from checking daily to make sure they haven't disappeared from my account.
