Weight harder to maintain at only 33?!

I am 33 and 5 foot 6, 8.5 stone, size 8.

When I was in my twenties I ate loads - not greedy but just pretty carefree I guess - and enjoyed a drink / a few drinks every week and was ALWAYS slim.

Now things are so different. Yes I'm still slim but I eat much healthier and less than when I was in my twenties and I'm teetotal - have been for nearly 7 years. If I eat even slightly more in one week i immediately put on half a stone and it freaks me out how easily the weight goes on! Nothing like when I was younger. I expected things to be like this maybe in my forties or something but not at 33. Can anyone else relate? I drink lots of water, am a vegetarian, eat 3 healthy meals every day and love running so definitely take good care of myself and enjoy it. I just wish I didn't put on weight so instantly/ easily!

I've had 2 children if that's relevant

I’m early forties and have had to completely give up all sugar and do 16/8, and I’m still struggling to get below 10 stone. You sound really healthy, and it’ll be better for your overall health long term if you keep going with the healthy eating.

Thanks for the comment. I take my hat off to you for quitting sugar! I've only attempted that once and that was for a week!

Thanks! It’s easier than watching how many biscuits I eat 👀 I’m a bit all-or-nothing in that respect. I totally get your frustration, by the way, I was still slim after two kids in my mid-30s but about 20 pounds overweight by 40, still 7 or so to go!

Wait until you’re 51! I only eat twice a day now (mostly healthy keto) walk approx 10,000 steps and do Pilates 5 x week. If I deviate, the weight piles on especially on my tummy and jowls. I could eat like a pig in my 20s too with no consequence. I try to stay around 8 stone but I’m 5ft 3.

Yep.. gets worse as you get older. You have to have a lot more of a healthy lifestyle in order to not constantly feel like shit IMO.
In my 20s I could also be out until 4am, wake up at 7am and go to work no issue. Now I feel dreadful for a week.

Thanks all. Guess I'll have to stay on track for the rest of my life 😬🤣
