Unhappy in job but TTC

Hello,

I have been in my job 3.5 years and it seems to be going downhill and I am not happy there anymore. I would like to explore the possibility of leaving - I'm in an industry where recruiters contact me a lot but I don't know whether the grass is any greener on the other side. Leaving could allow me to negotiate a larger salary though with the new company.

The issue is I am TTC and very conscious of maternity leave as I am the breadwinner and money will be very tight. I don't want to leave and then find myself ineligible to get mat leave. Is it too risky to leave? Have been TTC for 6 months and had a chemical at 3 months. My current policy is full pay for 6 weeks, half pay for 19 weeks.

If you change jobs while you are pregnant you won't get statutory maternity pay but I think you can get maternity allowance (both of these would be less than the policy at your current workplace though!). Additional payments depend on the company - places that have this may need you to have been working there for some time before your due date (I think where I work it's a year, so for 3 months before getting pregnant ). https://www.gov.uk/maternity-pay-leave

That's what I did.. I was sticking to my job for maternity leave. It took several years I am afraid but it was worth it as I got paid full for first 13 weeks. Resigned after maternity leave.
