If you are KNACKERED

I’m burning the candle at both ends and I have a lot on my mind- parenting, work, family, house, divorce, all the usual stuff. Anyway I am KNACKERED and not really doing the things I should to help myself.

If you are also knackered and should be having an early night and eating healthily and getting your clothes ready the night before etc but aren’t, this is the thread for you. Join me in knackeredness. Or do yourself a favour and be better than me and go to bloody bed.

I am about to take myself off to bed to read a book instead of getting too caught up on threads on here!

Having trouble sleeping and back to work tomorrow. Already 20 minutes late in doing it....

vodkaredbullgirl · 20/08/2023 22:25

I'm knackered and on my 3rd, 12 hour night shift and I didn't sleep much during the day.

Ringringringringringringringbananaphone · 20/08/2023 22:27

Oh ugh. I feel you. I’m sitting here berating myself for not just getting up and getting myself to bed - I’m SO shattered and have a busy week coming up. But nooooo, here I sit, watching Sweet Magnolias and losing brain cells. Sigh.

giraffes2021 · 20/08/2023 22:27

I am knackered work tomorrow school holidays and a toddler had two wines and a big fat sticky toffee pudding now I feel like crap and can't sleep hahaha

MeinKraft · 20/08/2023 22:28

I'm so knackered. Slept from 11-7 last night, then had two naps today... 11-12.30 and 7-8.30. Now lying in bed again, need a drink but can't seem to shift myself to go downstairs.

BertieBotts · 20/08/2023 22:29

Me. I very stupidly had DC3 2 days before DC2's birthday. They are now (just) 5 and 2 and the birthday madness spreading out to 3 days is absolutely exhausting. I'm slightly dreading this every year for the next few years and we even chickened out of a party Blush

I am actually trying to sleep but it's still about 27 degrees here so I can't.

AgathaMiss · 20/08/2023 22:29

I can't wait for schools to go back. Knackered having grumpy teenagers around while trying to work full time. We've all got in habit of going to bed really late, eldest teen after 1am which winds me up

Itsjeremycorbynsfault · 20/08/2023 22:31

Totally knackered. Always something to deal with. Trying to juggle my business against school holidays/childcare. Always chasing my tail. House is a mess. Kids have turned feral. I've turned feral. Never looked so rough.

CrapBucket · 20/08/2023 23:02

I’m nodding at all of these, we are all living the same life… especially YES to Sweet Magnolias, such a pointless way to stay up, but so cheesy and gentle that it’s addictive…

I feel you! Just got 4 dc in bed. Poorly dh. I've been working and juggling housework. Nephew called asking for tech support. Work is crazy (dh and i are self employed together)

Feel like I'm coming down with something every day but it doesn't fully develop.

Looking forward to school really. Kids are bored and cars in the garage.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 20/08/2023 23:08

I'm the same. Just had two weeks off but been sleeping in and going to bed late. Been camping which was fun but knackered me out so much. I'm at work for 8 in the morning and should have gone to bed an hour ago but was finishing The Crown and feeling very Sundayish

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 20/08/2023 23:08

And DH is still off with DD next week so I'm super jealous lol

Theunamedcat · 20/08/2023 23:12

Ds2 chose violence last night and didn't sleep until 8am this morning I woke him around 11 walked him about to tire him out im Currently KNACKERED he is awake and chatting to himself

liveforsummer · 20/08/2023 23:14

I had a late coffee as i felt so knackered earlier so i am wide awake, but unfortunately still wasn't motivated to do the things you list like get clothes ready, make lunch, have a shower so that's all deferred to the morning. There is a load of wet washing still in the machine. I worked til 2am last night in my second job and tomorrow have a class of 4/5 year olds who are still new having just started school on Wednesday so yes am knackered but at 43 still making poor choices and deserve no sympathy 😆

TheGirlFromTomorrow · 20/08/2023 23:17

I've just got back from a festival. I can barely lift my arms above my head. Spent over three hours packing today and about the same driving after four nights sleeping in a field. The gazebo almost blew away one night in a sudden storm and that took five of us to pin down plus saw this band just before that. We wriggled at the front of 1000s of people and I didn't know if I would faint or throw up so it's been hectic.

Very tired now.

you are my people!! Summer is soooo busy. Holidays, juggling childcare, birthdays an trying to have fun! So full on! I’m exhausted. Yet here I am scrolling instead of sleeping!
we’re on holiday with our younger kids this week. How do I already know I’ll be even more tired after this so called break?!

I hear you! I feel compelled to try and do lots of holiday stuff even though I’m working full time, I wonder if it changes when you don’t have kids in education so you become oblivious to term time/holiday time…

@CrapBucket our oldest is almost off to uni. The past couple of summers have been a bit different with her. She works a lot in holidays so we tend to do nice things term time.
still have younger ones to contend with now.
and with her 18th birthday, a level results and now uni prep, this summer is so full on.

i also have nackered kids today. Let them
stay up last night, which was fun. But now the little one is overtired and grumpy. Not fun!!

ImperfectMamma · 21/08/2023 09:37

Me too, me too! I just want to cry. I'm so exhausted by the evening that I need wine to keep me going until it's over and I can go to bed (only a glass or two, but still!) Work full time in demanding job, two kids at the most demanding age and big life changes too. Solidarity to all of you!
