The best way to setup a parent rota

The title says it all really
I run an afterschool activity which relies on Volunteers to help out. Normally I have a couple of permanent helpers but they've had to leave and no-one can help every week so I need to setup a rota.

I have no idea what the best way to do it is. I'm hoping you may be able to help either from a parents or an organizers perspective on the best way to do it.
Is in person better or are there online tools that can help?

I've never had to use a rota like this before so I feel a bit lost on the best way to go about it.

I think you should lay it out to the parents really quite clearly that if no support is forthcoming you're going to have to close up shop. In order to prevent that from happening you're going to need X parents to volunteer on Y days for Z amount of time. Could everyone fill out the following Google sheet with their availability by this date - after which you will allocate roles and disseminate the rota with parents. Should there still be insufficient numbers within this period, the club will cease to exist.

Thank you
I've had parents offer to help but no more than a couple of times a month. I'm just looking for a way to work out who covers what date.

There is a volunteer sign up website that our PTA use. It's online if you google it. Just enter the times and everyone selects which they are available for

otherwise create a whatsapp group maybe

I've used this in the past

www.volunteersignup.org

It was alright but not amazing... personally I would adding everyone a slot and say if they can't make it they have to swap with someone else.. and then step away.

Thank you for all your ideas. Our group manager won't allow whatsapp group (due to GDPR apparently) but I will look into the other suggestions
