I've just washed my hair to get the garden out from under my fingernails...

...and now I'm sitting on the bed wrapped in a navy blue towel, about to douse myself in scent.

(DH is downstairs watching the football when he should be whipping up a delicious shepherd's pie and opening the Pol Roger, but I guess you can't have everything.)

What's been your most Jillyficacious moment recently?

LOL at getting the garden out from under fingernails, I know exactly how you feel!

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 20/08/2023 18:30

I hope it’s Fracas, OP.

SatelliteStomper · 20/08/2023 18:40

I'm a bit scared of Fracas, tbh.

I've gone for a fairly Jillyfied Quelque Fleurs Originale. A classic.

Speaking of Jilly, I was just looking at the cast for Disneys Rivals.
Not sure about the RCB casting🤔but definitely a yes for Aiden Turner as Declan, and Luke Pasqualino as Basil.

IHeartGeneHunt · 20/08/2023 18:58

But have you cut your fringe with the kitchen scissors?

I got a Fracas dupe from Perfume Parlour, no idea if it smells like the real thing but it makes me feel fabulous.

cashmerecardigans · 20/08/2023 19:02

I got DH to buy me some Fracas just because of Jilly. I'd never even smelt it! Fortunately it's gorgeous EnvySmile

cashmerecardigans · 20/08/2023 19:03

No idea where the green face came from, sorry

VioletCharlotte · 20/08/2023 19:17

Speaking of Jilly, has anyone seen she has a new book, Tackle, available for pre-order? Mount was pretty ridiculous, so im not holding my hopes up for this to be better. Im still going to read it though because it's Jilly!

My Jilly moment today was picking blackberries from my neighbours hedge. I was reminded of Rachel stealing Ranaldini's Sloes!

AmbleInAnnBoleyn · 20/08/2023 19:21

I picked sloes today Grin

ElizabethVonArnim · 20/08/2023 19:29

Ooh, who's playing RCB?

Bit soon? Will you freeze them?

CheerfulBunny · 20/08/2023 19:39

Went to a trad village show on Saturday which made me think of the food fight which is so gloriously described in Riders - Rupert and Billy lobbing Victoria sponges into the melee. And Dinsdale snaffling a whole cake at the cricket tea in TMWMHJ.

Bit worried about Tackle. I love JC but her later output has been a bit.. mixed. Mount was v dodgy and I never finished Wicked, whereas I can't was how many times I've read the old classic books. Expect I'll buy it though!

Lizzy I picked 13 to plant, we potted 12 last autumn and obtained 3 seedlings. Eventually we shall have a sloe hedge of our own we shall be dead probs by the time the bushes fruit but hey

I've just finished reading "Jolly Marsupial", a collection of some of her journalistic pieces from the early 80s combined with a longer description of a publicity trip to Australia.
Maddeningly, I recognise everything apart from the Australia bit and suspect that "SuperCooper" has been combined with the Down Under piece to make a new title.
I wouldn't mind so much, but I'm expecting "SuperCooper" any day now from the same 2nd hand bookshop whence I got JM.
My most JC moment was discovering the cat's got fleas again.
Oh - and witnessing everyone standing around with "arms folded like a rugger player" (a la her husband Leo) during the peace at church. We all normally just smile weakly at those either side of us, but the new vicar wants us to shake hands and/or kiss cheeks and charged up and down the aisle clasping hands and Mwah!-ing to encourage us.
