Edinburgh fringe and busyness

Went to spend th day today on Edinburgh with my son who's at university there.
Haven't been at festival time for years .
Understandably I was expecting busy but the fringe is so big now.
Hundreds of events daily.. overwhelming .
It was virtually impossible to walk around Edinburgh today.
Do people enjoy the whole thing ..I found the experience awful

It's always been like this. I haven't noticed a difference and live here. It's chaos, you have to either stay out of the city centre or join in and embrace it.

I just stay out of the city centre as much as I can during festival time.
If you think it's bad come in December and see how horribly crowded the Christmas market is <shudder>.

Literally just home from a fab Fringe day.

It is very busy and I accept not for everyone but it is wonderful to see the city buzzing again.

I live in Edinburgh and this year I have only noticed it being busy when I've gone to definite Fringe places, George Square, the Pleasance. I have been out for drinks, neals, cinema, shopping all pretty much unaffected.

Drinks and meals, that should be. There is a lot of Edinburgh to enjoy without being overwhelmed by crowds.
