Lost assess to all work files

I have tried to logon to work this evening only to find that I can’t assess any of the client folders or intranet. I’m panicking that my access has been removed and no one has told me. I don’t normally work weekends but I have been a bit overwhelmed with my workload and I’m still in probation so was trying to catch up a bit with things. Now I can’t get onto any of the systems files - the computer is acting exactly how it did when I first started before I had got logins for things.

My big worry is that work have done this remotely on Friday night, not expecting me to login over the weekend and where planning on talking to me about it on Monday. Ie. They have done it because I haven’t passed probation.

How likely is this?

Could it just be that system is being updated or something ?

Are the company simply carrying out maintenance? Tomorrow I know that I won't be able to access the intranet or our work systems.

It's probably an IT issue.

I'd assume the same as PP, system downtime?

I've seen people have access revoked but it's normally on a working day or during the call to speak to them, never prior to it. Hopefully you'll be able to get back on Monday morning!

I can get onto the Hub thing that shows any service disruptions and there is nothing for either the network or the specific applications I use. All of those are saying they are running fine. I just feel panicky and a bit sick and a bit like I’ve been found out as not being good enough

Does the system use Zscaler or similar?

As you don't normally work the weekend access might be restricted outwith working hours to allow server updates or file clean ups.

I wouldn't jump straight to thinking you have failed your probation period.

I have previously logged in at weekends so I don’t think it is that.
I am hoping anxiety has got the better of me. I think I just feel panicky anyway because I know I’m not performing well.

Is the system normally available to others at weekends or could it be your login is restricted to work hours?

No because we work flexibly people work all manner of hours. You can usually get onto the systems whenever you want.

I know of two big financial organisations that are having big updates this weekend and access is either severely restricted, or entirely unavailable. That could be having a knock-on effect all around the place.

It's just something that makes the system secure.

However if you have it, it sometimes automatically signs you out and you have to re-enter your details in order to access the full system again.

Have a flick through the programs and also check the bottom of your screen for a little icon that looks like a cloud.

Are you on VPN? We need to be to access our main drives.

Although I still have issue with access even when I’m on VPN, I have to ‘wake up’ access by right clicking and accessing a saved file or recent file, if I were to go via the drive I always seem to have an issue.

If the end of your probation is due, your logins and access could have been set from start date to date of probation end, and your manager just needs to tell IT to extend/update the dates.
