Vinted have mixed up my parcel- is there anything I can do?

Hi, can you help?

I sent a parcel via INPOST. All fine on my side. The buyer has Sent me a photo of baby clothes which is not what I have sent out at all. She said she had a text saying the parcel had arrived, put in the code, the locker opened and it was baby clothes.

I can't track or see further back in our conversation. I apologised and explained it must have been mixed up by the person putting things in lockers! She was great about it but I'm upset that I've lost my item and the money. I kept saying sorry.

Any advice on how to complain or track what happened?

I'd stop keeping saying sorry. Once is enough.

It's utterly ridiculous they've managed to do this. What do vinted say?

tryingsomethingnew · 19/08/2023 21:49

I don't know how to ask Vinted. Do you know how? She was good about it. Had to give the refund.

She's scammed you

BarbaraofSeville · 19/08/2023 21:52

Did Inpost do the labels?

They've probably mixed it up on the locker you put the parcel in, by mislabelling what they pulled out. That sounds more likely.

You have a contract with Vinted. Complain to them. At least get your story in, and if they can't investigate and track down the missing parcel, you could try Inpost.

But I don't know if it's possible for Vinted to work out the mix up and fix the problem.

Sleepyquest · 19/08/2023 21:53

I've heard of this happening a few times. You could try and speak to vinted customer care.

ShadowPuppets · 19/08/2023 21:55

This happened to me as a recipient - label was what I’d ordered, insert and item something entirely different. I contacted Vinted and as far as I’m aware they refunded both of us. Please don’t assume she’s scamming you - I was gutted to receive a women’s top rather than the cute toddler dress I ordered!

Angeldelight50 · 19/08/2023 21:56

Seen a thread about this the other day, apparently an ongoing issue with INPOST labels. You can press the ‘i’ button in the chat with your buyer and request help from Vinted.

BarbaraofSeville · 19/08/2023 21:59

Anytime one of my buyers chose Inpost, I was concerned about putting an unlabelled parcel in the locker so I wrote the name, reference number and Vinted on the outside of the parcel so hopefully they can sort it if there's a problem.

I posted about 10 things by Inpost and they all got to the right place but l don't know if that was luck.

WakeMeUpBeforeYouGo · 19/08/2023 22:00

InPost have messed it up.
I ordered on Vinted and received it thorough InPost. Thankfully I got my item but along with it was another item which I hadn't bought- in the same package. I thought the Vinted seller probably put it in by mistake. After informing the buyer and sending her pictures, she said it was a different packaging to hers and she didn't send the second item.
Someone at InPost repackaged it and combined 2 orders.

DappledOliveGroves · 19/08/2023 22:02

I’ve had the same. Ordered a baby sleeping bag and a woman’s dress turned up. The seller was as baffled as me. Vinted refunded me, I was still stuck with a dress I didn’t want so gave it to charity shop. Hopefully the seller got refunded too.

bookish83 · 19/08/2023 22:03

This happened to me. Inpost were good and sorted a refund for me via vinted.

I don't know if i was scammed as they sent me the oicture of the packaging and it had the correct inpost code on (matching my tracking) but the wrong parcel. So it was like the label was stuck on the wrong package!

Looking back though, it was a £40 item so I'm now thinking there could have been a scam on the buyer end Blush

bookish83 · 19/08/2023 22:04

You need to ask her to send you the pic of the label and packaging though, not just the items!

I wonder if it was the dress that I sent out and my buyer never received? 😂
Lovely summer dress from Emily + Fin? Vinted never refunded as they said it was incorrectly labelled -it absolutely wasn't.

Belltentdreamer · 19/08/2023 22:08

It’s quite a well known scam so be cautious. My friend sent a Canada goose jacket and the guy claimed he received shoes. She never got her money - wasn’t great.

tryingsomethingnew · 19/08/2023 22:16

She's sent me a photo of the clothes and the label so don't think it's a scam. I think that's exactly what happened- wrong parcel it the wrong locker. All good advice. But did you say click on the i and that will take me to customer service? Or is there an Inpost place I can ask?

No, it was a leopard print dress! Can’t remember the label but nothing especially fancy. Looking back on my chat to Vinted at the time it seems the courier had messed up. The two tracking labels didn’t match. I think courier had printed label and stuck it to the wrong package.

tryingsomethingnew · 19/08/2023 22:18

In the help centre there isn't a button that says my parcel has been sent wrong. Don't know what to click

I had this as a seller and it was incredibly difficult to speak to InPost while Vinted tried to wash their hands of it (no refund for me). I ended up successfully taking them to the small claims court!

deeplybaffled · 19/08/2023 23:00

Happened to me too. Ordered a pair of jeans and a set of baby’s stacking cups turned up! I got a refund and offered to return the cups, but my seller said they weren’t hers and she knew nothing about them, so it must have been at least a 3 way parcel mix up by in post!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 01/09/2023 17:56

This has happened to me as a buyer. Opened the locker with the qr code and a completely different item was in there not the one I ordered. Different numbers. I have no idea how useful they will be sorting it or what can be done for me to get my item.
