We are due to go here the week after next. We have been before but wanted to see if we are missing any great places to visit. We use it as a base and are happy to drive places!

Brean down/fort is probably an obvious place on your list.

If you like outdoor activities canoe hire from Wall Eden activity centre is great. We did a day hire and paddled pretty much to Glastonbury and back. Here’s the link: https://www.walledenadventure.co.uk/

Just back from a week in Somerset, about 20 mins inland from Burnham.
We did day trips to:

Tyntesfield (National trust)
Bath
Cheddar
Wells
Brean down and fort (popped to Burnham for wetherspoons curry after)
Clevedon

All lovely!

Clevedon Marina

Weston Super Mare pier and seafront

Bristol has lots to do, cathedral, museums, old churches including St. Mary Redcliffe, harbourside, aquarium, science museum, for shopping try Clifton Village or Park Street. The Bristol university botanical gardens are worth a visit, also try the avon gorge and Leigh woods. Troopers Hill nature reserve. Kingsweston House, Blaise Castle, Lawrence Weston Roman fort. As for bars, try the hatchet inn near the colston hall.

Oh and the Landroger Trow pub in Bristol is brilliant. Right on the historic docks, does some decent ales.

Portishead marina is worth a visit though I admit it's a while since I've been.

Make sure you visit Dusicake at 14 Oxford Street in Burnham. It's a quirky little coffee shop with great cupcakes that you could take away as well.

Barbiefan · 21/08/2023 20:44

Thank you. We will try some of these :)

The tourist information place on the seafront is very helpful and has loads of leaflets etc of local attractions. You probably know that but just in case you've missed it...
