Travel Anxiety at 100%

I'm flying Monday and I'm in such a state. I'm terrified I've cocked something up to do with flights, or the accomodation. What if I typed in the wrong passport numbers or we get lost or my elderly mother can't cope with my dog. What if the coach goes without us, what if we get ill.

I so wish I wasn't like this.

What if you just have an amazing time away?

I was in the taxi to the airport earlier in the week and had, oh my god did I pack the passports (bag in boot couldn't check), yes oh course I did.

So you didn't type in passport numbers wrong, the dog will have a great time with your mum and if you get ill your travel insurance will kick in and there are many lovely people around who will help regardless.

@frozendaisy I know you're right but the anxiety just suppresses any common sense I might have.

Anyone ever beaten generalized anxiety? It's ruined my life so far.

It's normal to worry a bit before you go away on holiday

But every thing will be fine once you get there and you can relax

Try and picture yourself all relaxed at your accommodation

I got super stressed just trying to put our cases in the check in thing. Thinking oh no I stuck the ticket in incorrectly on mine I'll never see my case again etc. my family rolled their eyes and thought I'd lost the plot. all our cases arrived at both ends perfectly fine. Everything was fine and we had a gorgeous holiday

Anxiety is very debilitating and you cant just talk yourself out of it. You need specific calming strategies such as diaphragmatic breathing; Repeating a soothing mantra; Having a check list; Drinking relaxing herbal teas; Listening to calming music. You could try hypnotherapy? You do want to deal with it otherwise it will affect your life in the future. All the best!

There was a very similar thread on here a few weeks ago. So many agreed with the poster that they felt awful anxiety before holidays. The OP updated they'd come back and had a great time.

I think you'll feel better when you're on your way/there...the thought of something is normally a million times worse than reality.

Have you tried mindfulness? My friend did a cbt for anxiety and it helped massively. Before it they couldn't catch a bus or go in a cinema or anything like that. I hope you manage to have a lovely time.

I take prescription drugs for my anxiety
