When friends update their social media but not reply to text.

Lighthearted (sort of!)
Twice this week I've messaged friends and they've not replied but I've then seen they have updated their stories/photos on Facebook and Instagram.
Does this slightly irritate anyone else or maybe it's just me as I don't really put things on FB and Instagram.

YABU - I see messages from friends but only reply when I have the time to properly read and give a decent answer. If im out at the park and don't feel like it then I won't reply then but may post on my story .

I am that person. I sometimes get a big backlog of messages and it seems too hard to reply but I carry on updating other things.

I have a couple of unreplied to messages going back 2 months! 🙈

YABU they can reply when they like, quite often it is nothing to do with you so try not to take it personally.

I’m in a hobby (not cycling 🤣) private fb group and will often pass the time quickly posting things that take zero thought.
Like today there’s been a few, “ah well done to your son!” type A level posts.

In the meantime, I haven’t replied to messages from 2 friends who will have seen those group messages, because I care more what I write, and I’m tired.

I don't take it personally, I really don't. They are good friends really I just can't imagine uploading a story to randoms on my FB before replying to my friend's text! Maybe as I just don't use FB and Instagram like that I suppose.

Sometimes I don't want to reply because I can't be bothered getting into a back and forth convo. I rarely post on SM tho tbf. I pretend I give the illusion that I am not on my phone much!

I have a friend like this, she does it to send me a subtle message that I'm not on her list of 'top friends' 😬 because I've not done something she wanted me to. I don't think she's worked out yet that I don't actually care! She's being phased out, life is too short.

Yes I have this issue with my best friend . Won’t text or call but constantly on Facebook liking everything on people’s pages she hardly knows or people who could care less about her and I’m over here like what the heck . I personally think she is addicted to Facebook . Many people are ! It’s crazy !!! And constantly changing profile picture , why ? Your real true honest friends see you face to face !

An update on SM is easy. Posting a photo of my dog, with a little caption, is low effort compared to potentially going into a conversation with someone. I often just don't have the spoons for it.

And this is why I also hate SM and phones.... everyone expects you to be available 24/7. I use my phone on my terms, not other people's.
