Two nights child free- what shall we do?

Soon, we have childcare for about 48 hours. We haven’t had a night away together for more than six years. Help me make a plan?

We can travel but it will need to be late afternoon/evening and early morning either side of the two nights, so would only have one full day in the place. Wondered about Paris. Any other ideas? Thank you!

Don't go abroad. Too much hassle. Choose a lovely peaceful destination in this country and research the swankiest, most luxurious hotel for a truly relaxing time - one-to-one with DP. Wake up and smell the roses/coffee. Go for a country walk, try a new hobby, take time to truly BE together. Come back recharged

Go somewhere local but nice and relaxing. Dh and I had 2 very rare nights away (first night away in nearly 6 years!)

We went to a spa hotel about 1.5 hours away. We went to the spa, went to the beach, lovely meals out, actually got to talk to each other. And no travel stress or delays. It was lovely.

@Toomanydamnpages agree with the others - too much hassle going abroad for such a short time. Make the most of the time relaxing instead of travelling 😊

A couple of hours drive tops, find the most relaxing location you can 😊 maybe a nice spa hotel, some nice restaurants nearby etc.

Have a lovely time!

Thank you for the suggestions. Do quite like the sound of a spa hotel for myself. (Outdoor activities would be nicer though I think if only it would stop raining. Fat chance of that!) Any recommendations for hotels/restaurants/beauty spots?

I haven't actually been abroad for more than six years either (last time didn't coincide with our last time away together though) but DP has had a few 2-3 night jaunts in Europe and I think I'm a bit envious of that. So I'm still a bit tempted despite the travel hassle...
