Yes they have done well, and many congratulations to them both. But these are girls, presumably from a wealthy family, who were sent to an English boarding school before the Russian invasion.

Obviously they will have been worried about their family in Ukraine but unlike many Ukrainians they are not refugees whose lives were completely disrupted by the war. The same results from students in that situation would be far more impressive.

Oh right I assumed they moved here during the war to do their A-Levels. As in boarded here because of the war as refugees.

Still very very difficult circumstances to be studying under and very worrying for them as children. It’s extra mental pressure.

Commendable - but an obviously planned and paid for move (therefore probably preceded by intensive English tutoring) and not entirely unusual for students at a £19,000 a year school.
