Pregnancy isn't possible, right?

So I'm starting to get myself into a panic but I'm pretty sure I just need to chill the fuck out. Please someone talk me down. I'm 1 day late for period, and have been having "pregnancy" symptoms the last 3 or 4 days. Nausea, lightheadedness, sense of smell seems stronger which is playing into the nausea. No particular change in boob sensitivity to where it would usually be just before period.
Now I know I need to do a test to be 100% sure but honestly I just think I need someone to give me a reality check not to waste my money.
Because a) I'm 45 (although I do have PCOS so apparently likely to be fertile to an older age)
And b) I have a copper coil.
So I'm freaking out about nothing right?
Thank you

Well, have you had sex in the last couple of weeks?

It's unlikely you are pregnant, but not impossible. Buy a test, and use it tomorrow morning.

elsbelsx · 18/08/2023 08:42

You need to take a test to be sure.

It's not a waste of money. Get a pregnancy test

I think it would be too early for pregnancy symptoms.

You might have covid or another bug… it’s still doing the rounds.

Do a test if you’re worried though.

Goslowglowworm · 18/08/2023 08:50

Yeah see I think it must be another bug and the 1 day late thing is a red herring and likely because of my age (but like I said I'm panicking a bit)
I think I might wait till Sunday and grab a test then if still no sign of period. God even doing that is embarrassing. I am a 45 year old grey haired woman. Bloody hell.

Genuinely hadn't even thought about pregnancy till DH suggested it as a possibility. I'm really not a "sicky" person generally. Except when I'm pregnant.

I had a contraception failure aged 48 and still did everything that you're doing! Statistically really, really unlikely you're pregnant, but do a test to settle your mind. Nobody turns a hair at people of your/our age needing to do a test!

SKG2007 · 18/08/2023 08:58

You're 45, not 85. I am 45 and have a year old dd. Just get yourself a test.

MeinKraft · 18/08/2023 09:11

Really unlikely given you have the coil but not impossible! You can get 3 tests for £1 in places like Poundland.

Completely disagree, Im due on next week, in about 8 days, have had sore breasts since Sunday, plus gas (apologies) and tiredness, did a test this morning and had a line. Its literally never too early to have symptoms, especially once you've missed a period.
