Psychedelics and microdosing

I've been reading a lot about psychedelics and microdosing...

I didn't take any drugs when I was younger so have no direct experience but it's something I'd like to start experimenting with.

Not street drugs...probably mushrooms although that may lead on to other psychedelics.

I know it's a slightly dodgy subject area (although I don't believe it should be, humans have taken natural psychedelics for tens of thousands of years!) but would anyone be willing to share any experiences?

Also does anybody have any interesting links to websites where I could explore further?

TBH I'd leave well alone! I took LSD when I was 15 and have suffered HPPD ever since..... I'm 69 now! HPPD is hallucinogen perpetual perception disorder. It's only recently been recognised as a brain disorder caused by hallucinogens. Look up the HPPD website. I'm aware this doesn't happen to everyone but I was in a bad way when I was 15. I've learned to live with it obviously, but I'm warning you to beware!!

Microdosing is below the level of hallucinations surely? That's my understanding anyway. Its to sharpen the mind, not for tripping.

I agree that would should be able to have more open discussions around the benefits of using them and not just shut down.

Ive used various different substances as medicines and found them very healing. I’d perhaps start with trying the microdosing with mushrooms and see how you get on :)

Mushrooms have had an amazingly positive effect on my life. Like you, I've never really done drugs apart from some weed when I was a teen. I don't drink, don't smoke, am a very sensible person! I'd had depression following a toxic relationship, and had taken SSRIs, but stopped after a while because I didn't like the side effects. Then I had some mushrooms- a few trips, and then occasional microdosing. I feel so much more settled, balanced and stable now. I see the world differently, even if I haven't had mushrooms in months- It's a sort of harmony of the mind to me. I know that sounds woo, but I'm not a woo person at all.

I take psilocybin alongside an SNRI which can diminish the effects, but I find they still help if I get breakthrough depression. They help me sleep and you get some interesting dreams. It's easy to grow your own and they can be dehydrated in an air fryer on the lowest temperature setting. They need some heat to grow though, they don't do much at room temperatures unless there's a heatwave.

My husband has been microdosing for about 6 months now.

His anxiety has gone, he said he had a moment playing tennis when he saw rungs super clear, almost slow mo and did the best shot he's ever done

Interesting. How micro is micro? Does he take some every day? In what form?
